Day-14 Saturday Aug 22 2026 (Jiadengyu & Hemu Village) - my 3rd day in Jiadengyu & my highlight today is taking a Kanas official scenic bus (CNY50) from Jiadengyu Transfer Centre to Hemu Village (66km, 2 hrs) - an exciting trip !
Hemu Village, Altay Mountains, Xinjiang - located in the seat of Hemu Hanas Mongol Township Government, Hemu Village has an area of 1,590 sq km, as one of Mongol Tuva settlements, it is a holy land for ecological sightseeing, photography, leisure & vacationing & winter tourism, winning honours of Chinese Ethnic Minority Village China Rural Tourism Key Village, China Top 6 Beautiful Ancient Villages & Towns, CCTV Top 10 Beautiful Villages.
Public Transport: 2 bus rides (CNY50, Jiadengyu > Hemu return) + Shuttle bus (CNY12.50, Senior)
 |
Jiadengyu > Hemu Ticket Station > Hemu Village (35m + 30km, 1 hr) |
1) I am an early riser & as usual after the daybreak, I took a morning stroll to enjoy the fresh, cool mountain air (5c to 6c) & admiring the scenic landscape & the surrounding nearby our hotel.
2) Free shuttle bus ride - after a DIY breakfast in my hotel, my travel buddy & myself took a free Kanas shuttle bus from a bus stop nearby our hotel to the Jiadengyu Kanas Service Centre followed by a shuttle bus (3 stops) to the Jiadengyu Transfer Centre to board a bus (departing 11.00) for our visit to Hemu Ticket Station (35km).
3) Jiandengyu Walking Street & open air food stalls - next to the Jiadengyu Transfer Station; plenty of food choices - Xinjiang style to suite your tastebud !

4) Jiadengyu Transfer Centre (near the official Kanas Car Park area & next to the Jiadengyu International Food Bazaar), car owners & their family members could buy their Kanas entrance tickets & enter via this centre.
5) Jiadengyu International Silk Road Food Bazaar (Grand Bazaar) - large hanging banners promoting "A Taste of Frontier" Xinjiang style food !

6) Jiadengyu Transfer Centre for Hemu Village (outside of the Complex) - 3 stops from the Jiadengyu Kanas Service Centre, the pick up point for tourists or day trippers taking the official Kanas Scenic bus to Hemu Village; bus ticket purchase (CNY50 one way) on board the bus prior to departure, no advance booking ! Just be aware that there is a mandatory 2-step system managed by the Kanas Scenic Area ie Leg 1 - shuttle from Jiadengyu to Hemu Ticket Station (approx 35km, 1 hr, 2 bus services daily ie 11.00 & 16.00); Leg 2 transfer shuttle from Hemu Ticket station to Hemu Village (30km, 1hr), hence time management is essential if you are visiting Hemu Village on a day trip taking the 11.00 bus from Jiadengyu (you have effectively 3hrs visiting time inside the Hemu Village) assuming you intend to catch a bus from Hemu Ticket Station departing 16.00 back to Jiadengyu ! Both of us managed our time well so we were on time to board a a return bus back to Jiadengyu ! Another mission accomplished for this Hemu Village visit !
