Day 5 Sunday Aug 31 2025 (Urumqi, Xinjiang D-3) - our final day in Urumqi before heading to Korla, Southern Xinjiang, a wet day but we managed to visit the People's Square, Shuimogou Scenic Area & the Urumqi Railway Station & the new township nearby.
1) Bus ride from our hotel to People's Square for a transit by bus to Shuimogou Scenic Area (Qingquan Temple) some stretches of roads were closed due to a marathon rally in downtown Urumqi, so took us quite awhile to find an alternative bus transport to Shuimogou.
2) People's Square, Urumqi, Xinjiang - a well known landmark in Urumqi !
3) Bus ride from People's Square > Shuimogou Scenic Area
4) Shuimogou Scenic Area (Qingquan Temple), Urumqi, Xinjiang - located in Urumqi's eastern suburbs, features "5 mountains & 1 water", lakes, bridges, greeneries & trees, ancient rock paintings, steles, statutes & temples etc. A great place for a stroll ! Free admission.

6) Bus ride from Shuimogou Scenic Area > Urumqi Railway Station & the nearby Commercial & Residential Zone (a new modern township in the making) - exploratory visit (as tomorrow we will be taking a train from Urumqi Railway Station > Korla), very impressed with the infrastructure & public transport system here, orderly & spacious, large Railway complex & customer-friendly ! So sleep well, when you are taking trains or public buses as soon as you arrive in Urumqi Railway station !
7) Urumqi Railway Station (North & South Bound), Xinjiang - large, spacious complex for a great train experience in Xinjiang - north or south bound !
8) Basement Public Bus Terminal / Station next to Urumqi Railway Station - just ask the driver for the right bus number if you are heading to any specific places in downtown Urumqi ! Cost you only Y$1 to Y$2 for a bus ride, e-hail a DIDI or take a metered taxi if you want some comfort in taking a public transport !
9) Uyghur or Han food to your delight, cheap & tasty, plenty of choice, you won't go hungry !
