Malaysia (My 3 days 2 nights Visit to Gemas, Segamat, Pontian, Batu Pahat & Johor Baru) May 13 > 15 2025 - Day 2

Wednesday May 14, 2025 (Day 2, Johor Bahru), - accompanying my brother / sister to state government offices & also took the opportunity to visit iconic landmarks in Skudai & Johor Bharu ie Bestari Bestimart Wet Market, Kota Jail Ayer Molek, Tan Siok Nee Culture Street & sunset viewing in Lido Beach, Danga Bay (opposite our hotel).   

1) Breakfast (toasted bread / butter, nasi lemak, fried banana / sweet potato fritters & hot coffee) in an old established coffee stall in Bestari Bestimat Wet Market, Taman Bestari 2, Skudai, Johor 


2) Bestari Bestimat, Taman Nusa Bestari 2, Skudai - a nice & clean wet market with a number of stalls selling fresh meat, fresh fruit / vegetables, seafood, groceries, a food court & a Hwa Tai Supermarket.

3) Heng Park Food Court, Taman Nusa Bestari 2, Skudai, Johor & the surrounding, located next to Bestari Bestimart.  


4) Accompanying my brother / sister to the offices of Indah Water Consortium, Skudai & MBJB, Johor Bahru. 


5) Downtown Johor Bahru, Johor 

6) Kota Jail, Ayer Molek, Johor - one of the oldest prisons in the country after Pudu & Taiping prisons, opened in 1883, entrance fee Rm3 (US$0.70) for senior citizens above 60+, normal adult Rm5, newly opened for public visit. In 2019, I put up two nights in HI Ottawa Jail House, Canada - an interesting hosteling experience !  



7) Arulmigu Rajamarianmman Devasthanam - oldest Hindu temple in the region, built in 1911 to serve the local Hindu community, located near Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street & Jalan Ah Fook, Johor Bahru, nearby there is a public car park.  

8) Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street, Johor Bahru, Johor - a heritage street named after a prominent Chinese community leader, a popular destination for tourists & locals offering a glimpse into the city's rich cultural & historical tapestry.


9) Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum, Jalan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru - located near the Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street, a display of exhibits & pictorials on the history of Chinese community in Johor Bahru.

10) Hiap Joo Bakery, Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street, Johor Bharu - bought a 4 packs of charcoal-fired coconut & red bean buns (Rm6 per pack of 4 pieces), yummy yummy taste, one the best buns I have ever tasted in my life ! 

11) Xiao Fu Kedai Biskut, Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street, Johor Bahru - my brother & sister bought home each a pack of crispy red / mung bean biscuits (5 pieces).  

12) Dinner in Taman Pelangi Food Court, Johor Bharu, Johor - a popular food court in Taman Pelangi, savoured a dish of yellow wine chicken (Rm18 = US$4.10) + vinegar pork trotter (Rm17 = US$3.90) + white rice (Rm2 x 3) + ABC ice dessert (Rm5 = US$1.14)


13) Beautiful sunset & evening stroll in Pantai Lido (Lido Beach) & Food Street, Country Garden Danga Bay, Johor Bharu, Johor
