Day 18 March 24 2024 Sunday (Tainan, Taiwan) - my final day in Tainan prior to my group's visit to Kaohsiung.
1) My solo early morning walk (06.00 > 07.00) in downtown Tainan (from LIHO Hotel, Zhongyi Road to Tainan Park) prior to my group's train ride to Kaohsiung, Taiwan; bought 2 pieces each of pork & vegetable bao (dumplings) + soya bean drink (NT$95 = Rm14.25) as takeaway to be eaten as lunch during our train ride to Kaohsiung.
2) Film Street,Tainan City
2) Tainan Park - a 100 year-old park known for its lakefront charm & landscaped waterfall garden.
3) Our group's early breakfast in a morning market in downtown Tainan, savoured a dish of vegetables + Porridge (NT$85 = Rm12.75)
Day 18 - March 24 2024 Sunday (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) - my 1st day in Kaohsiung, my last visit to Kaohsiung was in 2004 (joining a package tour with my 9 family members & relatives), a lapse of 20 years ! How time has flown ! Both my wife & myself were very pleased to set foot on Kaohsiung in this visit especially the Fo Guang Shan Museum visit, will there be a 3rd visit to this port city in the near future, lets see ? Perhaps my next Spring visit will focus on the east coast cities of Taiwan ie Hualien, Tarogo Gorge, Yulan, Taitung ..... in retirement, it is always good to have something to look forward to .....

1) Tainan Train Station - taking a local train to Kaohsiung - my last leg of travel in Taiwan !
Kaohsiung, Taiwan - a massive port city in southern Taiwan, home to many skyscrapers, parks etc, its focal point is the Love River with walking paths & cafes along its banks & cruise boats, shopping from high end malls to Liuhe & Ruifeng night markets.
2) Kaohsiung Train Station & MRT train ride to Formosa Boulevard station (transit) > City Council station for our Sky One Hotel check in.
3) Hotel accommodation: my 2 nights stay in Sky One Hotel, Liuhe 2nd Road, Cianjin Disrtrict, Kaohsiung; room tariff NT682 (Rm102) per night (king bed, twin sharing), Kaohsiung Metro > City Council MRT station Exit 4 & 300m walk to Sky One Hotel
Day 1 walking tour in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan (after hotel check-in)
1) Central Park, Zhongshan / Wufu Road - a recreation park, an oasis of greenery in the midst of a heavily built up urban area, the weather was hot when our group took a slow walk from our hotel to The Central Park ! The Park has a MRT station nearby.
2) Shopping & Entertainment district - opposite the Central Park, Kaohsiung
3) Bought a packet of Taiwanese instant noodle from a local convenient store as a light lunch eaten in my hotel - my 1st taste of Taiwanese made instant noodle, yummy yummy taste !
4) My sole visit (late afternoon) to Sanfeng Temple, Hebei 2nd Road, Kaohsiung from Sky One hotel, centuries-old Taoist temple known for its many red lanterns & dedicated to the deity Nezha; a purposeful visit as this old temple was in my bucket list of visit despite a hot sunny weather in Kaohsiung !
5) Evening walk & our group's visit to Liouhe Tourist Night Market - plenty of street food (seafood, beef noodle, rice, snack foods etc) to savour & satisfy your taste buds !

6) Dome of Light, Formosa Boulevard MRT station (underground) - designed by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata, the world largest public art installation made from individual pieces of colored glass, the work not only adds to the beauty of the station but also adds a new dimension to the art life of the Kaohsiung & creates a new scenic spot in the city; an interesting visit after our dinner in Luihe Night Market, the illuminated colored glass makes this place a popular Instagram spot especially for first time tourists !
7) MRT train ride from Formosa Boulevard > Yanchengpu Station followed by an evening walk to Love River Waterfront Park
8) Yanchengpu Town, Kaohsiung - within walking distance to the Love River Waterfront area.
9) Love River Waterfront, Kaohsiung - ideal for an evening stroll along the riverside walkway !
10) Kaohsiung Film Archive & Beer Garden
11) Kaohsiung Music Center - an iconic landmark in Lover River Waterfront Park
12) LOVE Boat Ticketing Station, Kaohsiung - if you enjoy taking a night cruise along the Love River banks, go for it ! A starry starry night awaits you & your loved ones !
