Day 2 Monday Aug 15 2022 Morning (Endau Town & Mersing, Johor)

Endau Town > Mersing, Johor (approx 40km), my 2nd visit to Kuala Rompin & Endau Town; both these fishing village towns are ideal for an overnight stay (as well as for food) if you are driving all your way from Kuala Lumpur city (approx 320km) & enjoy visiting beaches & get a feel of the fishing village town daily life by day & night especially for first timers ! 


1) Endau Town, Johor - my 2nd visit, enjoying our morning walk in this little quaint fishing village town & a delicious homestyle Chinese tai chow (stir frying of food using a wok) in the evening at a local kopitiam mainly frequented by local residents ! 


2) Fisherman Jetty, Endau Town, Johor - an interesting sight, fishing jetty built on wooden stilts, overlooking the jetty is the Endau bridge along the federal route & over the Endau river, a river boundary of  Pahang & Johor state ! 


3) Pantai Teluk Gorek, Endau, Johor - a local tourist attraction, quiet at the time of our group's visit, chalet & campsite facilities available, located near to Mt Arong, 20 minutes drive from Mersing, you could do a hiking uphill to Mt Arong using a local guide to catch a panoramic view of the South China Sea from the hilltop ! Be careful driving this stretch of country roads as monkeys were seen loitering for food on both sides of the main trunk roads !


Day 2 Monday August 15 2022 - Mersing, Johor (focusing our visit to beaches & iconic places in Mersing) 

1) Dataran Air Papan, Kampung Air Papan, Mersing, Johor - a popular tourist destination for locals to relax & swim, there is a 1.6km trail for walking, hiking & running along the beach front ! 
 

2) Teluk Buih, Air Papan, Bandar Mersing, Johor - a fishing bay resort place & a jetty stretching out to the open sea for visitors to view & take pictures of the surrounding ! KF bought a packet of tempe soybean chips (Rm15) as snack from a food stall in this ressort place.

3) Mersing Coastline, Johor - as viewed from our car's windows ! 


4) Mersing Harbour Centre, Mersing Kechil, Johor - the heart of all ferry activities to Pulau Tioman & nearby islands, a ferry terminal & has an Information Centre & a food court inside the centre, housed the Ferry Ticketing & Marine Conservation Fee Payment Counters.  


5) Jabatan Perikanan Negeri Johor (Department of Fisheries), Jalan Dr Tun Ismial, Mersing, Johor


6) Majlis Daerah (District Office) Mersing, Jalan Tun Dr Ismail, Mersing, Johor


7) Taman Rekreasi Mersing, Jalan Tun Dr Ismail, Mersing, Johor - ideal for a morning or evening stroll & family outing etc 


8) Mersing Esplanade, Mersing Kechil, Johor 


9) Fushun Temple, Jalan Jemaluang, Mersing Kechil, Johor - an historic site, near the roundabout & next to an old Hindu Sri Subramaniam Temple. 


10) Sri Subramaniam Temple (1892)Jalan Jemaluang, Mersing Kechil, Johor - old Hindu temple, closed at the time of our visit !



11) Masjid Jamek Bandar, Mersing Kechil, Johor - located up the hill, nice looking mosque, here you could have an panoramic view of Bandar Mersing, ample parking at the Masjid site. 


12) Dataran Monumen Mersing, Jalan Tun Ismail, Mersing Kechil, Johor - an iconic landmark in Mersing !  


13) Amazing Mersing & Pulau Setindan Viewpoint, Taman Rekreasi, Jalan Kampung Air Puteri, Mersing, Johor - a great spot to view the Pulau Setindan & the sea beyond.

14) Mersing Jetty Interconnection to Pulau Tioman, Johor - the boarding place for your ferry express to Pulau Tioman.

20) Pasaraya Tunas Manja, Taman Bandar Baru Mersing, Johor - bought 4 bottles of drinking water, 2 bottles of 100Plus & 1 packet of creamed biscuits (Rm22.80) for our overnight stay in Pulai Tioman !

24) Makan Makan (Eating) - our group's early breakfast (roti canai with egg & onions + hot drinks Rm22 = US$4.90) at a local restaurant in Endau Town near the Fisherman Jetty; a localised Malaysian style breakfast ! 


25) Makan Makan (Eating) - bought 6 pieces of curry puffs (Rm3) from a local food stall in front of the Endau Fisherman Jetty & ate along with our roti canai breakfast !  


26) Makan Makan (Eating) - bought 2 packets of prawn & fish crackers (Rm10) from a grocery stall in Endau town for our Pulau Tioman trip. 


27) Makan Makan (Eating) - our group's lunch in Restoran Ee Lo, Mersing, Johor; ordered 3 Chef's Special dishes ie curry fish, sizzling squids, special roaster pork rib & a tai chow dish of stir fried bitter gourd with egg + Rice + iced plum juice drinks = Rm149 (US$33.10), a yummy yummy seafood lunch !

28) Makan Makan (Eating) - our group's dinner in Restoran Chin, Mersing; each ordered a plate of economy mixed rice & select their choice of meat & vegetables + hot Chinese drink totalled Rm35 (US$7.80), a simple & economical meal of the day ! 


29) Hotel Accommodation - overnight stay in Mersing Hotel, Bandar Mersing, Johor; room tariff (2 double beds Rm101 triple sharing @Rm34 (US$7.60), single room RM67 (US$14.90), no lifts so not so ideal for elderly guests, basic but conveniently located in the heart of the Mersing Town; on the day our Pulau Tioman overnight stay, we chose to park our car overnight in front of the hotel till the following day afternoon (15.00), we put up Rm12 of our parking coupons as it is pricey to park in a private car park near the Mersing Ferry Terminal costing Rm15 per day flat rate & another Rm15 for the following day !
