Europe (Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina) March 2019 D-10 (Part 1)

Day 10 Tuesday 26 March 2019

Sri America's tour brochure quotes " In the morning, go sightseeing to view the Turkish Bazaar (Bas Carsija), Husref Bay's mosque & the Olympic Stadium; Then leave for Mostar, a historic town spanning a deep valley of the Neretva River to see the remains of the Turkish Quarter and the 16th century Old Stone Bridge which is on the UNESCO World heritage list; After that, journey to Split for dinner and stay overnight"

" Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina is a compact city on the Miljacka River, surrounded by the Dinaric Alps. It's center has museums commemorating local history, including Sarajevo 1878-1918, which covers the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an event that sparked World War 1. Landmarks of the old quarter, Bascarsija, include the Ottoman-era Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque "

1) Sarajevo City, Bosnia & Herzegovina - as viewed from the tour bus windows, it was drizzling at the time when our bus enter the city.... so a gloomy day greeted us but a surprise ensued .... Sarajevo Old Town started snowing .... it was a great fun for all our tour members especially for first timers seeing snowfall !

This hotel housed the foreign correspondents in Sarajevo during the Serbian & Bosnian War (1992-1995)

2) The start of our 1/2 day guided tour - tour bus dropping our tour group near an old stone bridge for a guided walking tour of old Sarajevo city along the Miljacka River towards Turkish Bazaar, Old Town, Sarajevo

3) Gazi Husrev Beg's Mosque, Old Sarajevo Town

4) Turkish Bazaar (Bas Carsija), Sarajevo - due to a wet morning & drizzling, the old town was deserted & quiet !

Bullet holes inflicted on this building during the Serbs-Bosnian war (1992-1995)
