Europe (Bran, Romania) March 2019 D-3


" Bran Castle (14th century) situated near Bran and in close proximity to Brasov, is a national monument & landmark in  Romania. The fortress is situated on the border between Transylvanna & Wallachia " 

1) Brasov, Romania - 166km from Bucharest, a popular skiing resort & winter tourism town 


2) Entry to Bran Castle - a 300m uphill walk from the main entrance; indeed this castle, the story & the view all fabulous ! 


3) Bran Castle (commonly known as Dracula Castle & a national iconic landmark - a must see tourist attraction) now a museum dedicated to displaying art & furniture collected by Queen Marie; drizzling when we were about to finish visiting the castle !

8) Vlad 111 Dracula also known as Vlad the Implaer, was the ruler of Wallachia on & off between 1448 - 1476; most historians agree that Vlad 111 Dracula never set foot in Bran Castle; during his reign, he was under constant threat by Ottoman & Hungarian forces.
