Malaysia (Covid-19 & My Staycation No 11 - The Linc, KL Shopping Mall) Oct 4 2020

" Happiness is not something ready made, it comes from your own actions "

" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) day trip in The LINC Shopping Mall (a newly opened, country barn concept & art-centric mall with 6 of the pre-existing old trees retained on the grounds & also rated as one of the 10 most colorful & instagram places in Malaysia), Kuala Lumpur, travelling on Sunday Sept 4 2020 (09.30 > 12.30) by Rapid KL LRT train from SS15, Subang Jaya (my home place) to Ampang Park; my 11th outdoor trip after the lifting of Movement Control Order (MCO) by the Malaysian Government on June 10 2020, my 1st visit to The LINC KL since their opening in Nov 2018 "

Total expenses incurred (2 LRT train rides) : Rm1.80 x 2 = Rm3.60 (US$0.85, Senior 50% rebate)

My 1st selfie posted in my travel blog
A big learning curve for me !

The start of my Rapid KL LRT train ride from SS15 LRT station (near my home place) > Ampang Park LRT station (19 stops,50 mins)

Arriving at the Ampang Park LRT station, Kuala Lumpur

1) The LINC KL Shopping Mall, Jalan Tun Razak, Taman U Thant, Kuala Lumpur (within walking distance from the Ampang Park LRT station) - a 2 storey semi-rustic design building based on the concept of a country barn; in mid-Nov, there was a Covid-19 case reported in local media in the Linc, hopefully shoppers are back & businesses return to normal in this art-centric mall after precautionary measures have been taken !

2) Here goes the story of The LINC relating to the old trees ... There was once a very old & wise Bodhi Tree - once upon a time in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, a huge & wondrous forest stood. And in the forest, there was a family of 7 trees led by an elder Bodhi, with roots reaching deep into the ground & a canopy as high as the clouds. One day a man came & said " Let us build our home around you and that our family & friends may come & be friends with you too ". To which the elder Bodhi agreed and thus, The LINC was born. And they lived Happily Thereafter !

3) A Poem on The Gift of Trees in The LINC KL - " In my quiet times, when heart & soul long for the honest sanctity & solitude of nature. I go to The Linc, for there I am met with old trees of exquisite generosity. There I remember who I am " the Original Poem By Claire Duboi.

4) Hanging sculpture in The LINC KL - an art installation formed by 41,600 number of doves with 40 colours collection to create a colourful & vibrant hanging sculpture. These droves symbolise peace, love, harmony & unity

5) Unique artworks with vibrant colors in each floor of The LINC KL (tropical floral paintings, mural of beautiful flowers & plants, Luna Lana light bulbs, The Owl, colorful rainbow staircase, greenery etc)

6) Restaurants, eateries & home grown shops in The LINC KL

6) Ben's Independence Grocer in LINC KL

7) After the LINC KL visit, I continued my Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) towards Suria KLCC Shopping Mall & Petronas Twin Tower along Jalan Ampang - this area is dotted with high rise commercial buildings, up-market hotels & condominiums

8) Dharma Realm Kuan Yin Buddhist Temple, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

9) A 10ft tall Musang King Durian replica in front of the LeApple Hotel, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur - love it or hate it, durian is the world's most divisive fruit, this hulking thorny "beast" has a very strong aroma, a strong no no to hotels & "aliens" ! But if you are adventurous in food, after your first trial or taste in Musang King, you will be in "Fantasyland" & fall in love with this durian variety greatly forever ! A Malaysia-boleh for this love-hate thorny & king of tropical fruit !

10) A glimpse of Petronas Twin Towers from far along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur - two "Sweetcorn" standing tall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre !

11) Robinsons & Shoppes At Four Seasons Place, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

12) Suria KLCC Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur City Center - a quiet affair (not many shoppers) in this premier shopping mall due to a recent hike in number of new cases of Covid19 infections in some states of Malaysia during my late morning visit & also a Covid-19 case been reported by social media in KLCC in late Sept !

13) Cityscape as viewed from KLCC Park

14) After slightly 3 hours of Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in The LINC & Suria KLCC areas, I took a LRT train ride from KLCC LRT station & headed home. As for lunch, I had a bowl of home cooked pork mi hoon / noodle soup at home ! Another productive & interesting Sunday weekend outing accomplished during this difficult Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO) period !
