Taiping, Perak - a town in north west peninsula Malaysia, known for its well preserved colonial architecture, Taiping Lake Gardens, a public park with angsana trees & a lotus pond was established in 1880 on the site of an old tin mine, other tourist attractions are Taiping Zoo, Perak Museum, Maxwell Hill etc 

Taiping is No 3 Most Sustainable City in the world. The recognition was given during the 2019 International Sustainable Top 100 Destinations Awards at the International Tourismus-Borse (ITB) Travel Trade Show in Berlin, Germany. 


1) Taiping Lake Gardens, Perak - the 1st public green garden established during the British rule in Malaysia, the garden is located near Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill)


Raintree Walk, Taiping Lake Gardens, Perak - a unique sight, 130 years old slumping trees, lopsided stump & cascading branches supported by metal bars ! 


Tasik Dayung, Taiping Lake Gardens, Perak - originally known as "Bougainvillea" Point with rows & rows of bougainvillea plants, cultivated by the Taiping Municipal Council in 1997; now a center point for water theme recreational activities for tourists ! 


Silver Jubilee Jetty (1936), Taiping Lake Gardens, Perak - the first jetty to be built in Malay Peninsula to commemorate the Silver Jubilee celebration of the reign of King George V of England; during the British rule, the jetty was used as the starting point of any sport related activities held at the Taiping Lake Gardens

2) Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill), Taiping, Perak - located 12km from Taiping town, founded by William Edward Maxwell, a British Assistant Resident in Perak in 1884; hiking trail is 13km to summit, due to covid-19, jeep ride services to viewing point were suspended !


3) Coronation Pool, Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak 


4) Taiping War Cemetery, Taiping, Perak - the final resting place for Allied personnel who were killed during World War 11, particularly the Malayan Campaign & the Japanese occupation of Malaya 


5) The Taiping Prison (1879), Jalan Taming Sari,  Perak


6) Perak Museum (1883), Jalan Taming Sari, Taiping, Perak - closed due to Covid-19 


7) Zoo Taiping & Night Safari, Perak - entrance fee for adults Rm16 & senior citizens 60+ is Rm8
