Today is Christmas Day (Dec 25 2025) ! Wishing all my readers a very Joyful & Merry Christmas & very soon we will be farewelling 2025 looking forward to see some firework display welcoming a Happy New Year in 2026 ! Next comes The Chinese Lunar New Year which falls on Tuesday Feb 17 2026, the beginning of the Chinese Zodiac The Year of The Fire Horse. The traditional Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture & was placed on the UNESCO intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2024.
For the last 5 months from August > December 2025, I initiated a free & easy travel plan (Aug / Sept 2025) to North-West China covering the provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu & Xinjiang whereas my travel buddy (KF Wong) did one for an Oct / Nov 2025 visit to the trio regions of Caucasus covering Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia, Both of these free & easy trips were equally challenging & a rewarding one ! In the domestic front, I attended my nephew's wedding function in Klang, 2 Travel Fairs in Mid-Valley Exhibition Center & Pavilion Bakit Jalil (Aug 2025) & mall tours in conjunction with the Christmas festive season (Dec 2025). Not to forget my little eating during the weekends with my family members & siblings & a little Musang King durian eating all for the sake of we live to eat or we eat to live !
2025 is probably an eventful year for me in so far as my world of travelling (5 overseas & 1 domestic travel) ..... leaving my footprints in Thailand, Laos, China (Yunnan, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Gansu & Shaanxi), Indonesia (Sumatra Island), Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia (Caucasus), a total of 102 days away from home to chase my travel dreams !
- Feb 10 > March 2 2025 - My 21 days overland border crossing train rides from Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Padang Besar) > Thailand (Hat Yai, Bangkok & Udon Thani) > Laos (Vientiane, Vang Vieng & Luang Prabang > China (Xishuangbanna, Pu'er & Kunming)
- March 18 > 26 2025 - My 9 days 7 nights package tour to Guizhou, China covering visits to Guiyang, Libo, Zhaoxing, Xijiang, Anshun, Gui'an & Zhenning.
- May 13 > 15 2025 - My 3 days 2 nights Visit to Gemas, Segamat, Pontian, Batu Pahat & Johor Baru in my home country of Malaysia
- May 22 > June 6 2025 - My 16 days free & easy visit to Acheh, Medan, Lake Toba, Dumai, Pekanbaru, Bukittinggi & Padang, Sumatra Island, Indonesia
- Aug 27 > Sept 24 2025 - My 29 days to North West China coveting the provinces of Shaanxi (Xi'an), Xinjiang (Urumqi, Korla, Kuqa, Aksu & Kashgar & Hami), Gansu (Dun Huang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye & Wuwei).
- Oct 16 > Nov 8 2025 - My 24 days to the Trio Regions of Caucasus near Central Asia covering Azerbaijan (Baku), Georgia (Sighnaghi, Tbilisi, Stephantsminda, Gori, Chiatura, Kutaisi, Mestia, Zugdidi, Batumi, Vardzia, Borjomi, & Akhaltsikhe) > & Armenia (Gyumri, Yerevan, Dilijan & Alaverdi).
No doubt geopolitical tensions & climatic change (tropical storm, cyclone, massive flooding etc) will be heightened in 2026 & a new world order will gradually emerge by the end of this decade ! A wake up call for ardent travellers each time when you plan your travel itinerary to seriously taking into considerations of these two factors. As for KM's travelling (I will be 75 going on to 76 comes May 2026), I may have to review my travelling "career" but my fellow ex-travel buddies commented that as long as your major body organs are still in natural proportions & healthy & do not need major "repairs", you are blessed & just move on (realising travelling after retirement is not forever !) but travel at your own leisure & pace !

My Little Eating - a specialty Ipoh salted chicken (vacuum packed, Rm35 = US$8.30) bought by my younger son's best friend when holidaying in Ipoh; very tasty to eat, a whole chicken marinated with an assortment of Chinese herbs & ginger, to keep the flavour in, the chicken is wrapped in paper before its is baked with a whole lot of salt (Tuesday Dec 23 2025).
My Little Durian Eating - December is not a peak season for durians but the strong aroma smell of Musang King durians in a morning market near my home place in Subang Jaya prompted me to buy home 3 kilos of Musang King @Rm28 - US$6.70 per kilo, yummy yummy taste ! (Saturday Dec 20 2025)

Lunch with my 3 sisters and savoured an assorted yong tau foo (Rm2.20 = US$0.50 per piece) & soup dumpling, very high customer patronage when we showed up during this Sunday weekend at the restaurant ! Yong tau foo is a Hakka Chinese dish consisting primarily of tofu filled with ground meat mixture or fish paste, there are various variants of yong tau foo served in the restaurant but I enjoyed eating the bitter gourd, brinjal, lady finger, white & dry tau foo puff, soup dumpling etc. (Saturday Dec 7 2025).

Glad to see a few of my ex-colleagues (Carol, Lolly, Mei Fong, Florence, Mark Chin) whom I had occasional met / not met since my retirement in May 2006 ! Great Food ! Great Company !
