Day 20 Thursday Dec 4 2024 (Bhubaneswar, Odisha) Part 2 - focusing my visit to Odisha State Museum, Bhubaneswar.
1) Odisha State Museum, Bhubaneswar - established in 1932 & later moved to the current building in 1960, oldest & largest museum in Odisha, displayed a wide & rich collections of antique items, excavated sculptures, ancient coins, rare artifacts, preserved art collections & age old manuscripts etc; admission fee Rs20 = Rm1.10 for foreigners.
2) Ancient Sculptures - Buddhist Heritage (Oldest Religion in India)
3) Ancient Sculptures - Jaina Heritage
4) Ancient Sculptures - Saptamatrika (Brahmanical Tantric Goddesses)
5) Ancient Sculptures - Shaktism (The Worship of Shakti)
6) Ancient Sculptures - Bhairava (Protector of Universe)
7) Ancient Sculptures - Ganesha (The Lord of Knowledge & Wisdom)
8) Ancient Sculpture - Kartikeya (The War God. Son of Siva & Parvati)
9) Ancient Sculptures - Naga Worship
10) Epigraphy Section - inscriptions engraved on stones, metals, woods & shells etc
11) Ancient Coins - Gupta Coins, Kushana Coins, Satavahana Coins, Indo Greek Coins
12) Ores & Minerals, Limestone & Dolomites, Rocks, Clay, Graphite etc
13) Exiting the museum - a very productive visit, a history lesson learned & an appreciation of India's past history, culture & religious significance - a country which has the oldest civilisation in the world !
