Day 21 Thursday Dec 5 2024 (Bhubaneswar, Odisha) - my 3rd day in Bhubaneswar, devoted a full day to visit 5 touristy places (by local buses) to Udayagiri & Khandagiri Caves, Dauli Hill Shanti Stupa, Shree Dhabaleswar Temple, Catholic Church & Shree Ram Mandir.
1) Bus ride from Palasuni Bus Stop (nearby our hotel) > Town Bus Stand for a visit to Udayagiri Cave this morning.
2) Udayagiri & Khandagiri caves, formerly called Kattaka Gumpha or Cuttack caves, are partially natural & partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical & religious importance; located south of the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, admission fee for foreigners Rs300 = Rm16 (cash) or Rs 250 = Rm 13.50 (credit card)
3) Udayagiri (Sunrise Hill) Caves, Bhubaneswar - Udayagiri Caves are 20 rock-cut caves near Vidisha, Madhya Predesh primarily denoted to the Hindu gods Vishnu & Shiva from the early years of the 3rd century CE to 5th century CE.

7) Digambara Jaina Temple - a Jain temple on top of the Kandagiri hill, the hill is honeycombed with a series of rock-cut Jaina caves, commissioned by King Kharavela in the 1st century BCE.

9) Light refreshment - after the caves visit, both of us took a rest at a nearby fresh coconut juice stall & each of us savoured a fresh young coconut juice drink (Rs40 = Rm2.20) before exiting the place.
10) Exiting the caves & had a stopover at a nearby grocery store & bought basmati rice, biscuit & fresh vegetables for our cooking in the hotel this evening !
11) Small Eat - a simple local lunch (Rs40 = Rm2.20) at a South Indian Tiffin Stall prior to our visit to Dhauli Hill Shanti Stupa visit.
12) Bus ride (Rs40) from Kandagiri Square Bus Stop > Baramunda Bus Stand > Dhauli Hill Shanti Stupa
13) Arriving at the Dhauli Hill Shanti Stupa by auto-rickshaw (Rs100 = Rm5.40) from the By Pass (main highway) to Dhauli Hill (3km).
12) Dhauli Hill Shanti Stupa, Bhubaneswar, Odisha - also known as Peace Pagoda, located 7km from downtown Bhubaneswar, built by the Japan Buddha Sangha & the Kaling Nippon Buddha Sangha in 1972, the Dhauli Major Rock has an inscription of Ashoka & the front is shaped like an elephant !

14) Shree Dhabaleswar Temple, Dhauli Hill - a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located 100m from Shanti Stupa.
15) Exiting the Dauli Hill Shanti Stupa - took a auto rickshaw ride (Rs100 = Rm5.40) downhill to a By Pass for a bus ride to Town Bus Stand, Bhubaneswar. to visit a Catholic Church & Shree Ram Mandir, both located in the heart of Bhubaneswar city & adjacent to each other.
16) St Vincent's Pro Cathedral, Bhubaneswar - a Roman Catholic Church.
17) Shree Ram Mandir, Bhubaneswar - a famous 20th century Hindu temple of Lord Ram in Odisha, located in the heart of the Bhubaneswar city.
18) Arriving at the Palasuni Bus Stop & bought a bunch of bananas from a nearby stall nearby our hotel.
