  • Entrance fees: 150,000dong (Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh) + 200,000dong (Hue Imperial City = 350,000dong (Rm68.25)

Day 15 Sunday Feb 19 2023 - my 1st day in Hue City

2) Cau Truing Tien Bridge & Perfume River, Hue - officially opened in 1899, the iconic charm of Hue !

6) My group's 2 nights accommodation in Purple Hue Central Hub, 56, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Hue City, room tariff online booking Rm70 (twin sharing) @Rm35 (US$8) per pax, small room, no lift but good enough for our short stay!  


My group's 2.5 hr afternoon tour (4 seater private car return trip 500,000dong=Rm97.50, each paid Rm24.40) to visit Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh & &  Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue

7) Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh - a tomb built for Khai Dinh, the 12th Emperor of the Nguyen dynasty, it feature a blend of Vietnamese architecture with Western styles, the tomb was completed in 1931 after 11 years of construction! Admission fee 150,000dong (Rm29.30=US$6.60)

Front Entrance, First Terrace, Mausoleum of Emperor Khai Dinh - steep steps, featuring 4 large size dragons crawling down, drizzling at the time of our group's visit, so wet floor & had to walk slowly especially uphill ! 


8) Second Terrace, Khai Dinh Tomb 


9) Second Terrace "Mandarin Courtyard", Khai Dinh Tomb, Hue- 4 rows of stone statues, 2 on each side, 7 solemn military & literature mandarins stand in the front & an elephant, a horse & 5 guards are place behind.


10) Stele Pavilion, Khai Dinh Tomb, Hue - a memorial stele named "Thanh Duc Than Cong" honouring the death king.


11) Highest Terrace, Thien Dinh Palace


12) The King's Altar, Thien Dinh Palace - situated in the middle room, made of concrete cement decorated by colorful panels of ceramic mosaics; in the front, there are 2 pairs of the crane standing on the turtle symbolizing a balance between Heaven & Earth & a bronze incense burner. 



13) Wall Paintings, Thien Dinh Palace - the content of the wall paintings depict 4 seasons, 4 holy animals, 4 kinds of tree or flower, 8 precious objects & a longevity in Chinese !

15) Gifts from foreign dignitaries on exhibits in the Thien Dinh Palace


16) Pictures of the King, Thien Dinh Palace & the past - a piece of history for a history junkie like me to learn & appreciate !

19) The stele engraved with the text by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu (1675 > 1725) refers to the restoration of Tien Mu Pagoda.


20) The stele engraved with a poem by Emperor Khai Dinh (1916 > 1925)

22) Savouring a tub of soya bean pudding @10,000dong (Rm1.95) by the riverside opposite the Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue  


23) Dinner in a Com Nieu Gia Dinh 2 Restaurant nearby our hotel in Hue city centre, ordered 2 dishes of local Vietnamese stir fried food totalled 118,000 dong (Rm23).
