Vietnam (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 3 - My 20 days in Hanoi, Sapa, Lao Cai, Haiphong, Tam Coc, Hue, Danang & Hoi An, Vietnam) Day 2 Monday Feb 6 2023 Hanoi Day 2

Day 2 Monday Feb 6 2023 - my 2nd day in Hanoi & after breakfast, our group took a morning & afternoon walk & visited Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, One-Pillar Pagoda & the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long (UNESCO). 

1) Breakfast in a local noodle stall near Bel Ami Hotel, Hanoi, 50,000 dong (Rm9.76)

2) My 1st morning walk in Hanoi city centre near Bel Ami Hotel.  


3) Temple of Literature, Hanoi - also known as Van Mieu, a temple dedicated to Confucius in Hanoi, also hosts the Imperial Academy, Vietnam's first national university, built in 1070 at the time of Emperor Ly Thanh Long.  

The Main Gate, Temple of Literature, Hanoi - admission fee 30,000 dong (Rm5.85).

Then Quay (Heaven Light Well), Temple of Literature, Hanoi - also known as Literature Well & the 3rd Courtyard.

6) Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi - security screening prior to entering the compound, the resting place of Vietnamese revolutionary leader.  


7) Vietnam National Assembly, Hanoi - also known as the New Ba Dinh Hall located on Ba Dinh Square across from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, completed in Oct 2014

8) Presidential Palace, Hanoi - currently the official residence of the President of Vietnam, prior to 1954, it was named the Palace of the Governor-General of Indochina, admission fee 40,000dong (Rm7.80). 


9) Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hanoi - constructed in 1990s dedicated to the late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh & Vietnam's revolutionary struggle against foreign powers. 


10) One-Pillar Pagoda, Hanoi - known as Dien Huu Pagoda or Lien Hoa Dai meaning " long happiness & prosperity", built in 1049 by Emperor Ly Thai Tong (1028 - 1054) of the Ly's dynasty. 

11) The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long (UNESCO) is a complex of historic building associated with the history of Vietnam located in the central of Hanoi, its construction began in 1010 & was completed in early 1011 under the reign of Emperor Ly Thai To of the Ly dynasty.

Lunch in Bun Cha Sinh Tu Restaurant, Hanoi, ordered a set menu of spring rolls & rice noodle 95,000 dong (Rm18.50).

Dinner in a local restaurant near my hotel, ordered a plate of roasted pork rice (72,000dong=Rm14) & chicken rice (62,000 dong =Rm12) quite similar in taste with that of Malaysian style Hainam chicken rice!
