Day 16 Part 1 Monday Feb 20 2023 - focused on our group's visit to Hue Imperial City (full day); my last visit to Hue Imperial City was in Jan 2014! An interesting day for me revisiting & exploring the Hue Imperial City in greater depth after a lapse of 9 years, admiring the 9 dynastic urns dating back to 1835, a glimpse of 9 Nguyen dynasty's ancestor hall ..... what a "beautiful" day despite some drizzling at the time of our group's visit .....
1) Breakfast (takeaway) banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) from a nearby stall in Hue City centre.
2) St Francis Xavier Cathedral, Hue
3) The start of my group's morning walk from our hotel to Hue Imperial City via Phu Xuan Bridge over the Perfume River (approx 2km).

Hue Imperial City - a walled enclosure within the citadel of the city of Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen dynasty (1802 >1945), it contains the palaces that housed the imperial family, as well as shrines, gardens & villas for mandarins.

4) The Nine Cannons, Hue Imperial City - the 9 majestic cannons were manufactured in 1803 & a famous landmark of the Nguyen Dynasty grandeur, the 9 holy cannons are named after 4 seasons & the 5 elements in the order of Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water !

8) Exhibition of Ceramic Replica & the Golden Seals of the Nguyen dynasty (1802 > 1945).
9) After the Ngu Phung Pavilion visit, our group took the Road No 1 & walked towards the Chuong Duc Gate.

14) Nine Dynastic Urns (A National Treasure), Hue Imperial City - located in front of the Hiem Lam Pavilion, cast from 1835 > 1837 under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang (1820 > 1841), these large urns represent the various dynasties honoring Nine Nguyen Dynasty rulers.
