Vietnam (Post Covid-19 Overseas Visit No 3 - My 20 days in Hanoi, Sapa, Lao Cai, Haiphong, Tam Coc, Hue, Danang & Hoi An, Vietnam) Day 6 Friday Feb 10 2023 - Lao Cai Day 1

Day 6 Friday Feb 10 2023 - my 1st day & first time visit to Lao Cai, North Vietnam.

1) Complimentary breakfast in SAPA Unique Hotel, my last day in SAPA after staying for 3 nights in this touristy town !


2) Hang Poh Temple - an historic temple, located opposite the SAPA Unique Hotel.

6) SAPA Lake - waterside strolls & coffee shops 


7) Bus from Lao Cai > Hanoi, Vietnam - bus ticket 40,000 dong (Rm7.80), departure every 30 minutes. 


Lao Cai, Vietnam - a province in the north west of Vietnam, known for its mountains, rivers, waterfalls & ethnic hill tribes, the province's towering peaks include Fansipan & dragon-jaw-shaped Ham Rong Mountain, the town of SAPA in the Hoang Lien Son mountains overlooks the terraced rice fields & ancient stone engraving of the Muong Hoa Valley. The International Border Gate in Lao Cai town is the gateway between Vietnam & China linked by a railway line & a bridge. 

Travel itinerary: SAPA > Lao Cai, Vietnam (33km), bus ticket 40,000 dong (Rm7.80)


Total expenses incurred: Rm108 (US$25) per pax
  • Hotel (1 night): Rm25 (twin sharing) per pax
  • Bus (SAPA > Lao Cai): 40,000 dong (Rm7.80)
  • Grab (5 rides): 85,000 dong (Rm17) per pax
  • Food: 298,000 dong (Rm58) per pax
1) Our group's 1 night accommodation in Lao Cai Diamond Hotel, Nguen Hue, Lao Cai, room tariff Rm49 (less Agoda cash rebate) twin sharing


2) Walkabout (2.4km one way) from our hotel to Lao Cai International Border Gate (Vietnam & China) - along the riverside.

4) Den Mau Temple, Lao Cai, Vietnam - near International Border Gate (Vietnam & China), our group enjoyed a tub of tofu pudding topped with herbal glass jelly (20,000 dong = Rm3.80) from a roadside stall - yummy yummy taste ! 



5) Lao Cai International Border Gate (Vietnam / China) as viewed from the riverside of Den Mau Temple, Lao Cai. Tourists with a China-approved visa are allowed to cross the border via a link bridge. 


6) After the International Border Gate visit, our group took an evening walk back to our hotel but stopped by at a local restaurant to have our dinner & ordered a plate of stir fried vegetables & fried chicken (120,000dong = Rm23.40) !
