Day 9 Monday Feb 13 2023 - focusing our group's visit to Hoa Lo Prison Historic Relic & Hoan Kiem Lake area.

3) Saint Joseph Cathedral of Hanoi - a Catholic church on Nha Chung Street in the Hoan Kiem District of Hanoi, a late 19th century Gothic Revival church that serves as the Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi, the Cathedral is named after Joseph, the patron saint of Vietnam
4) Hoa Lo Prison Historic Relic, Hanoi - originally used by the French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners & later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War, in the later period, it was known to American POWs as the "Hanoi Hilton" ! admission fee 30,000 dong (Rm5.85)
The Almond Tree, Hoa Lo Prison Historic Relic, Hanoi - prisoners used almond bark & young leaves to cure dysentery & diarrhea & to clean wounds !
Underground Sewer, Hoa Lo Prison Historic Relic, Hanoi - on the night of Dec 24 1951, 5 of the 16 death sentence political prisoners escaped through this underground sewer !

7) Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi - also known as Sword Lake or Ta Vong Lake, a fresh water lake measuring 12ha in the historical center of Hanoi !
8) Ly Thai To Monument, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi - a founding emperor of Ly dynasty & the 6th ruler of Dai Viet (1009 > 1028)!
9) Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi - the temple of the Jade Mountain is located on the Jade Islet in Hoan Kiem Lake, Central Hanoi, admission ticket 30,000 dong (Rm5.85)

15) After the dinner, took an evening stroll with my wife & travel buddy, Thompson just to get a feel of the nightlife in the Old Quarter & Beer Street of Hanoi one more time !
