2) Makkah Masjid, Hyderabad - under renovation
3) Ganesh Chaturthi Festival (2-12 September 2019) - month of Bhadra to honor Lord Ganesh, the elephant headed God of the Hindus, statues of elephant headed God paraded around the city (day & night) in Hyderabad before being submerged in the river ! From the balcony of our hotel, we were able to watch the festival parade & the main roads were crowded with continuous stream of worshippers, followers, cars & motorists; no doubt our sleep was interrupted by the loud music, car horning & the high festive mood of the cheerful & jeering crowd till the wee hours of the night !
4) Hussain Sagar, Hyderabad - " a heart-shaped lake in Hyderabad, Telangana, built by Ibrahim Quli Quib Shah in 1563, spread across an area of 5.7sq kilometers & is fed by the River Musi. A large statute of Gautama Buddha, erected in 1992 on Gibraltar Rock in the middle of the lake "
5) Tank Bund, Hyderabad - " Tank Bund connects the 2 parts of the city Hyderabad & Secunderabad, a popular sightseeing place for the locals & families ! " An early morning walk to the bund area & Lumbini Park; also witnessing the Ganesh festival procession & parade along the Tank Bund; lifting of the elephant headed statutes from the trucks/vehicles onto to River Musi etc.
6) Sculptures & statues of statesmen, prominent religious gurus, social & political leaders, Gods & Goddess along the Tank Bund
7) Lumbini Park, Hyderabad
8) Birla Mandir, Hyderabad - " Birla Mondair is a Hindu Temple, built on a 280ft high hillock called Naubath Pahad on a 13 scres plot. The construction took 10 years and was opened in 1976 by Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission ! Free admission but no photography inside the temple.
9) Birla Science Center, Hyderabad - closed at the time of our visit due to the Ganesh Festival !
10) Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Hyderabad
11) Amrutha Castle Hotel, near Deccan Comforts Hotel, opposite Secretariat Old Gate, Saifabad, Hyderabad
12) Street food stalls in Hyderabad - sweet corns, lime juice drinks, ice cream, fresh coconut & sugar cane juice, fried pan cakes with corns etc; street food lovers delight in this city !
