India (Kolkata,West Bangal) Sept/Oct 2019 (Howrah Railway Station & Bridge)



Day 30 Wednesday 9/10/2019 Kolkata (Final Day for my Singapore Buddy in Kolkata but I stayed on for one more day before flying home) - accompanied my Singapore buddy to Howrah railway station to board a day/seater train (13.30>20.30) to Bhubaneswar & another 2 more cities in Southern India; After the Howrah visit, I took a bus back to Park Street & then a Metro to Dumdum & changed to a local bus to visit Dakshineswar Temple

1) Howrah Railway Station, Kolkata

" Howrah Junction, more popularly known as Howrah Station, is the oldest & largest railway complex in India, serving the two cities of Howrah & Kolkata " 





2) Howrah Bridge as seen from a Howrah jetty, Kolkata 


3) Howrah Bridge & Hooghly River, Kolkata

" Howrah Bridge is a bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. Commissioned in 1943, the bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two cities of Howrah & Kolkata. " 


4) Dakshineswar Temple, Kolkata

" Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu navaratna temple located in Dakshineswar close to Kolkata. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali, meaning She who liberates Her devotees from the ocean of existence ie Samsara "
