Day 5 Saturday 14/9/2019 - Ellora Caves, Aurangabad (UNESCO)

Ellora Caves is one of the largest rock-cut monastery temple cave complexes in the world featuring Buddhist, Hindu & Jain monuments & artwork dating from 600 -1000CE period. There are over 100 caves at the site, only 34 of them are opened to public. 12 are Buddhist caves, 17 Hindu & 5 are Jain caves

1) Local bus from Aurangabad bus station to Ellora Caves (29km) 


3) Arriving at the front entrance of Ellora Caves - admission fee for foreigners Rp600 (Rm36)


Cave 16 - The Kailasha temple is the largest single monolithic rock excavation in the world, a chariot shaped monument dedicated to Shiva. The Kailasha also features sculptures depicting the gods, goddess & mythologies found in Vaishnavism, Shaklism as well as relief panels summarizing the 2 major Hindu epics. Cave 16 is the world's largest monolith, being the last of the 3 to be constructed.
