India (Kolkata, West Bengal) Sept/Oct 2019 Part 1


" Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of India' West Bengal state. Founded as an East India Company trading post, it was India's capital under the British Raj from 1773-1911. Today it's known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries & cultural festivals. It's is also home to Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, whose tomb is on site. " 

Day 28-31 Monday-Thursday 7-10/10/2019  Kolkata - My 4 days 3 nights stay in Kolkata. Kolkata was on a religious holiday since our first day arrival up to 8th Oct. Metro services were running on a half day basis ! Kolkata was voted as one of the 100 Best Cities in the World by the Lonely Planet in 2009 !

Makan Makan (Eating) in Kolkata - Mostly own prepared meals for lunches & as for dinners, I enjoyed eating spicy chicken rolls (Rp50=Rm3) for 3 consecutive nights from a popular stall called Kusum Roll's (established since 1971) located adjacent to our hostel . 


Hostel reception with old pictures of major tourist attractions including their names in Kolkata; a great start for us & together with my Singapore travel buddy & a city map provided by the hostel, we were able to visit most of the major tourist attractions in Kolkata !
