My 19 days to South Vietnam (Phu Quoc Island, Rach Gia, Ho Chi Minh, Cu Chi, Phan Thiet / Mui Ne, Bao Loc, Dalat, Phan Rang Thap Cham & Nha Trang) Day 16 Phan Rang Thap Cham

Day 16 Monday Feb 2 2026 (Phan Rang Thap Cham, Vietnam) - bike hire for the day touring the outlying area & coastline of Phan Rang (an exciting & productive day !): 

  1. Grape growing & kite surfing in Ninh Thuan
  2. Hang Rai, Nui Chui National Park
  3. Trung Son Co Tu Temple
  4. Po Klong Garai  Cham Tower
1) Breakfast at a local restaurant nearby Hotel Phan Rang - savoured a plate of Vietnamese style chicken rice (50K VND = Rm7.80 = US$1.90)


2) Bike hire (150K VND = Rm24 = US$5.80, 24 hours) from our hotel to tour major touristy places in outlying & suburban areas of Phan Rang


3) Biking along the coastline of Phan Trang, Vietnam - passing beaches, salt fields, vegetable farms, temples, fisherman villages, offshore islands etc 


4) Hon Mun Island (Black Island), Phan Rang - located 10km off the coast of Phan Rang. 


5) Lang Than Nam Hai My Tan, Phan Rang - a Chinese temple located on the coastline, 10km from Phan Trang.


6) Rock formations & unique landscape nearby the Nui Chui National Park, Phan Rang, Vietnam


7) Grape growing, Phan Rang - Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan province) is Vietnam's largest year round grape growing region; famous for red, green, & black varieties grown on trellis frame; the hot, dry climate allows for these harvests annually, producing sweet-sour, thin skinned fruit; the key grape growing areas & vineyards  are found  in Ba Moi & Thai An. 

 
8) Thanh Truc Vineyard (Ninh Thuan), Phan Trang, Vietnam - while standing by the roadside taking pictures of vine tress, both of us were invited by a lady owner to her vineyard for a short visit; thanks to her hospitality, I took the opportunity to  take a number of pictures on her vineyard, grape bearing vines, own labelled wine in bottles for sales etc; before parting, both of us bought 1/2 kilo of fresh red grapes (30K VND = Rm4.70) to return our kindness to her !

10) Hang Rai (Otter Cave), Phan Rang, Vietnam - located approx 32km from Phan Rang Ward, it is a place where thousands of years old coral reefs converge, a stunning coastal destination in Nonh Thuan Province, located within the Nui Chua World Reserve Biosphere Reserve, known for its fossilized coral reefs that resemble a "lunar landscape" or "Mars on the sea", it features dramatic, jagged rock formations, clear blue waters & its unique "sea waterfall" effect during high tide, walking over the Hang Rai (Otter Cave) is like walking over a moon ! Entrance fee 30K VND = Rm4.70) for Seniors.

12) Chua Tien Trang, Phan Rang Thap Cham, Vietnam - a Chinese temple in suburban Phan Trang 


13) Salt Fields, Phan Rang Thap Cham - long stretch of salt fields dominate the Ninh Hai district, approx 15km from Phan Trang city. Phuang Cuu Salt Field is one of the largest salt fields in Central Vietnam. 


14) Trung Son Co Tu, Phan Rang Thap Cham, Vietnam - a Buddhist multi-tiered temple built on a hilltop, stunning view of Phan Rang countryside from the upper section of the complex ! 


15) Po Klong Garai Tower, Phan Rang Thap Cham, Vietnam - located on the Trau hill, approx 8km from the city centre, built between last half of the 13th century & early 14th century, currently has 3 small towers built by the Cham. the structure of each small tower is a special architectural work, each floor & side is decorated with ceramics & stones in different shapes of humans, dragons & leafs showing artistic & religious meaning of the Cham people, entrance fee 20K VND = Rm3.15)
