Day 1 Sunday Jan 18 2026 (Kuala Lumpur & Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam) - my 1st night stay in Phu Quoc island; upon arrival, we took an airport shuttle bus & dropped off at Duong Dong town followed by a short walk to our hotel. In the later afternoon & evening, we took a stroll in downtown Phu Quoc city & the Night Market just to get a feel of the nightlife in this fascinating island, off the coast of South Vietnam / Cambodia; looking forward to see the best of South Vietnam in the ensuing days covering cities / towns ie Rach Gia, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh, Cu Chi, Phan Thiet / Mui N, Bao Loc, Dalat, Phan Rang & Nha Trang ! Except Ho Chi Minh city which I visited in Jan 2014, all the other cities are my 1st time visit hence a very refreshing & exciting trip for me.

1) My early morning breakfast (chee cheong fun) prior to taking a Rapid KL train ride from SS15 LRT station > KL Sentral (35 mins)
2) Skybus ride (Rm10, Senior) from KL Sentral > Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, Sepang, Selangor (approx 54km, 1 hr)
2) Arriving in Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia
3) KLIA2 Air Asia check-in counter, immigration clearance, security screening, waiting lounge, boarding the plane etc
4) Boarding Air Asia flight from KLIA2 (ETD12.10) > Phu Quoc, Vietnam - flight delay of 1 hour
5) Arriving in Phu Quoc International Airport, Vietnam
6) Phu Quoc International Airport, Vietnam - immigration clearance, luggage collection etc
7) Airport shuttle green bus ride (20K VND = Rm3.20) from Phu Quoc International Airport > Duong Dong
8) Suburban scenery as viewed from the moving bus from Phu Quoc International Airport > Doung Dong Town, Phu Quoc island, Vietnam
8) Hotel accommodation: my 4 days 3 nights stay in Thuan Hai Hotel, Phu Quoc island, Vietnam - room tariff Rm91 = US$22, twin sharing, located near the Phu Quoc Night Market.
9) Walkabout in downtown Phu Quoc city after our hotel check-in & a short rest.
10) Dinner with my travel buddy at a roadside stall nearby our hotel - each of us savoured a plate of BBQ pork rice / fried egg (45K VND = Rm7), a local favourite !
11) Continuing the walkabout after the dinner along an overhead bridge across a river
12) Phu Quoc Night Market, Vietnam - my 2nd visit of the day ! A tourist's hot spot in Phu Quoc island, Vietnam; bought 2 pieces of local mangoes (23K VND + Rm3.60), sweet & tasty !
