Day 9 Monday Jan 26 2026 (Ho Chi Minh & Phan Thiet, Vietnam) - arrived by Vietnamese Railway train from Ga Saigon to Ga Phan Thiep (3.5hrs train journey); after our hotel check-in & a bike hire from our hotel, we started our biking tour in the mid-afternoon & visited the historic Phan Thiet Water Tower, Chua Hung Long Temple, Thoung Chanh Beach & Doi Duong Park & Beach. A fruitful biking tour seeing some of the best of the touristy places (be it historical, cultural, educational & nature) in Phan Thiet, a coastal city facing the South China Sea !
Travel itinerary: Ho Chi Minh > Phan Thiet (approx. 177km)
1) Ga Saigon (Railway Station), Vietnam - e-hailed a Grab car from Khach San Spring House Hotel, Ho Chi Minh city to Ga Saigon to board a train (ETD 06.45) to our next destination, Phan Thiet, soft seat online booking Rm27 (US$6.70).
2) Suburban & countryside scenery as viewed for the moving train from Ho Chin Minh > Phan Thiet, Vietnam - passing country towns, bridges & rivers, large tracts of agricultural lands (rice fields, banana & dragon fruit farming), brief stopovers at railway stations along the way to pick up & drop off passengers etc
3) Arriving in Phan Thiet Railway Station (10.30)
4) Suburban & cityscape of Phan Thiet town as viewed from a moving Grab car (60K VND = Rm9.40) heading to Tiffany hotel in downtown Phan Thiet.
5) Hotel Accommodation: my 3 days 2 nights stay in Tiffany Hotel, Phan Thiet, room tariff Rm110 (US$27, inclusive of breakfast), 2 single beds.
6) Bike hire for 2 days (180K VND = Rm28 x 2 days) from Tiffany Hotel, Phan Thiet.
7) My fried rice lunch + free hot Vietnamese tea (42K VND = Rm6.60) & Banh Mi (22K VND) for my travel buddy in a local restaurant nearby our hotel in Phan Thiet.
8) Bike visit to Phan Thiet Bus Terminal to inquire public transport from Phan Thiet > Bao Loc
9) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Phan Thiet Water Tower & the surrounding, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - a historic, 32m high yellow brick water tower, an iconic landmark located in Binh Thuan Province, built between 1928 & 1934 on the river banks of the Ca Ty River, designed by Prince Souphanouvong of Laos while he was working as an engineer for the French colonial government.

11) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Ho Chi Minh Museum, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - exhibits & memorabilia chronicling the life & legacy of Vietnamese Communist leader, Ho Chi Minh (1880 > 1969) & became President of North Vietnam from 1945 > 1969.
12) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Duc Thanh School, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - a private school built in 1907, now a historic building, the preserved classrooms & boarding house where former President Ho Chi Minh lived & worked in 1910.
13) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Chua Hung Long, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - a Buddhist temple known for its quiet, serene & sacred atmosphere, located in the Duc Nghia ward of Phan Thiet city.
14) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Lac Dao Temple, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - an ancient temple in the old neighbourhood of downtown Phan Thiet.
15) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Van Thuy Tu Temple, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - a historical & spiritual site that preserves the cultural & & essence of Phan Thiet's Fishing Community, impressive architecture, biggest attraction is the exhibit of the largest Whale Skeleton in South East Asia; close at the time of our visit, so near yet so far !

19) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Nha Tho Giao Xu Vinh Phu, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - a Catholic church located along the coastline near the Doi Duong Park, Phan Thiet.
20) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking tour to Doi Duong Park, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - Doi Dong Park now encompasses the entire Doi Duong Beach, park has parking & restroom facilities & along the coastline, a ow of casuarina-line coffee shops provide a relaxing spot to enjoy the sea breeze, located approx 2 km from the city centre.
21) Day 1 Phan Thiet biking visit to Coop Mart Supermarket, Phan Thiet, Vietnam - bought a pack of chicken rice (30K VND = Rm4.70) as my dinner (re-cooked with my rice cooker in the hotel room !) !
