Day 6 Thursday May 18 2023 - my 1st day in Yogyakarta, my last visit to Yogya was in Feb 2009 (a lapse of 14 years); welcome back KM, observed that the Maliaboro area is now more vibrant & progressive, the entire area has been beautified & well connected with public transport !

Yogyakarta, Java - an ancient centre of Javanese culture & the seat of royal dynasties going back centuries, it is home to the 9th century Borobudur, 9 stone tiers stacked like a wedding cake & adorned with hundreds of Buddha statutes & relief panels & the towering Hindu temple complex of Prambanan, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, Mt Merapi, the country's most active volcano is also in the Java province. In 2006, a magnitude of 6.4 earthquake in Yogyakarta killed more than 6,200 people & injured more than 130,000, but cause minor damage tot he 2 temples !
3) Hotel accommodation - my 3 night stays in Aloha Hotel, Yogyakarta (approx 4km from Malioboro shopping street), room tariff 266,000 Rp = Rm82 (twin sharing), motorbikes for hire.
4) A guide on day tour packages & indicative pricing covering visits to Borobudur / Prambanan Temple (UNESCO), Bromo Ijen picked up from my hotel's reception.
5) Walkabout in suburban Yogyakarta near my hotel.
6) Early dinner in a local eatery stall (Mbak Zessy) specialising in cooking Chinese food (Indonesian style tai chow), ordered seafood Tomyam soup (KM) & fried prawns (Thompson) + rice, both were well cooked & tasty !

7) Malioboro by Night, Kota Yogyakarta, Java - took a Grab (32,000Rp = Rm9.80) nearby our hotel area to Malioboro.
