Wednesday Feb 1 2025 (Day 10 - Luang Prabang, Laos) - hired a MPV van nearby our hotel for our day trip to Kuang Si Waterfalls + 3 other tourist sites (Rice Farm, Hmong Village & Elephant Camp) followed by visits to UXO Lao Visitor Center, Mekong Riverside walk & lunch & ended our day doing a small hike to Puosi Hill & an evening walk to the Luang Prabang Night Market, a test of our mental & physical strength on this very day of outing !
Ground Transport + Food: LAK343,000
- Day Tour (Kuan Si Waterfalls): LAK600,000 + LAK60,000 tips @LAK165.000 (cost sharing of 4)
- Entrance fee (Kuan Si Waterfalls & Pousi Hill): LAK60,000 + LAK30,000
- Food: LAK40,000 + LAK40,000 + LAK8,000
1) Morning alms (Sai Bat), Luang Prabang, Laos - I woke up early (05.30) while my 3 travel buddies still in deep slumber (as though their mobile phones in sleeping mode) to witness an alms giving ceremony on a main road nearby my hotel, a long standing traditional Lao Buddhist culture, the devoted offer food to monks throughout Luang Prabang, so an interesting sight not to be missed when visiting Luang Prabang !
2) After the alms giving ceremony visit, I continued my stroll to Luang Prabang Morning Market & a nearby temple, to get a feel of the morning atmosphere, breathing fresh morning air looking forward for a bright & cheerful day in Luang Prabang !
3) My second round of visit to Luang Prabang Morning Market & morning noodle breakfast (40,000KIP = US$1.85), this time with 3 of my travel buddies to buy finger food & snacks for our day trip to Kuang Si Waterfalls + 4 other touristy places stipulated in the tour brochure, located in the outskirts of Luang Prabang (30km, an hour's drive).
4) Our group of 4 booked a tourist MPV van this morning (starting 09.00) on a 1/2 day tour package (600,000 KIP + Tip 60,000 KIP = US$31) to Kuang Si Waterfalls & 4 other tourist sites (Rice Farm, Hmong Village, Elephant Camp & Buffalo Farm) along the way, driver is well mannered & friendly, an exciting day for me as in my 2 previous trips (2011 & 2017) to Luang Prabang, I skipped visiting Kuang Si Waterfalls due to a low level of interest shown for this sort of countryside visit then !

5) Sightseeing No 1 - Rice Farm (Day Tour Package), Luang Prabang - Lao rice farm at a glance; green, green & green greeting us ......
6) Sightseeing No 2 - Hmong Village (Day Tour Package), Luang Prabang - the 3rd largest ethnic group in Laos, many still living in mountain villages, selling knitted wears, handbags, crafts to visiting tourists to earn a living !
7) Countryside scenery as viewed from the tinted glass windows of the moving tourist van vehicle
8) Sightseeing No 3 - Elephant Camp (Day Tour Package), Luang Prabang - an opportunity to buy sugar canes or carrots to feed & have an intimate experience with elephants in the camp !
9) Sightseeing No 4 - Buffalo Farm (Day Tour Package) - skipped this sightseeing by our group of 4
10) Countryside scenery as viewed from the tinted glass windows of the moving tourist van vehicle
11) Sightseeing No 5 - Kuang Si Waterfall (Day Tour Package), Luang Prabang - admission fee 60,000 KIP = US$2.80) inclusive of buggy rides, the highlight of today's tour package, no regret at all after seeing the beauty of Kuang Si Waterfalls !
12) Moon Bear Rescue Centre, Kuang Si Waterfalls, Luang Prabang - a Free The Bears non-profit project initiated by local wildlife authorities to protect the bears from illegal wildlife trade ! Donations are welcome to help support this project.
12) Kuang Si Waterfalls - the gem of Luang Prabang, gorgeous turquoise water, a must visit for tourists, take a dip into the multiple-pools & enjoy the swim & relax ....

14) Kuansi Wildlife - old trees under protection by local authorities.
15) Exiting the Kuang Si Waterfall by taking a buggy ride back to the front entrance for our tourist van ride back to Luang Prabang town & drop off in UXO Lao Visitor Center, our next destination ! What a beautiful day in Kuang Si Waterfall, wonderful time & a wonderful place !
