Sunday Feb 23 2025 (Xishuangbana / Pu'er) - Day 15 - a beautiful sunny Sunday in Xishuangbana, spent our 3/4 day in Daizu Garden, a popular theme park in Galanba, 40km from Jinghong City where we stayed. Enjoyed viewing the Xishuangbana Peacock dance & water festival / cultural parade & fun activities prior to exiting the Park ! 

Ground Transport & Food 

  1. DiDi Cab: CNY70 x 2 (cost sharing of 4)
  2. Entrance fee (Daizu Garden): FOC for Senior 70+
  3. Buggy ride: CNY60 
  4. Food: CNY12 + CNY3 + CNY5
1) Hotel buffet breakfast in Dreamview Shangpin Hotel, Xishuangbana, good selection of food. 


2) Xishuangbana Daizu Garden (Daizu Yuan), Ganlanba, Xishuangbana - 530m above sea level, located 40km from Jinghong City, there are hundreds of Dai households living in traditional Dai dwellings here, locals saying "if Xishuangbana is a beautiful green peacock, Ganlanba is its tail & Dai Park is the most eye-catching feather of Ganlanba ", took a Didi cab (CNY70 = Rm42) from our hotel in Jinghong city to Daizu Garden. 


3) Electric battery buggy ride from fhe Front Entrance of the Park to 4 major sightseeing spots inside the park ie Peacock Garden, Border Terminal, White Pagoda & Splashing Water Square, other places of interest nearby the Splashing Water Square are Man Chun Man Temple, Dai Culture Block, Folk Culture Building ..... 

4) Sightseeing buggy Stop No 1 - Peacock Garden, the venue where the peacock dance show is held daily, if you are early before the show, take a leisure walk around the Peacock Garden & the surrounding area, nearby there are rows of food stalls selling local delicacies & tradition Dai food.  


5) Peacock dance show, Peacock Garden - an interesting & entertaining show, to the Dai people, peacock is the symbol of beauty, happiness  & luck, whenever there are parties or festivals, Dai people will perform the peacock dance to celebrate. 


6) After the Peacock Garden visit & peacock dance show, took a slow walk in the nearby area & food stalls selling a variety of Dai delicacies, tropical fruit, snacks & finger food etc; also witnessed an entertaining umbrella dance show in the vicinity. 


7) Sightseeing Buggy Stop No 2 - Border Terminal - from the border pier, you could catch a glimpse of a river sharing a border with Burma & not far away a mountain beyond which is the Burmese border; for a fee of CNY399 (Rm240), you could take on high speed tourist boat ride along the river towards the nearest Burmese border ! 


8) Sightseeing Buggy Stop No 3 - Manting Temple (White Pagoda) - built in 583 & has a history of 1,400 years. 


9) Sightseeing Buggy Stop No 4 - Splashing Water Square - a big square where visitors congregate to view & participate in water festival fun activities; buggy ride passing through a number of traditional dwellings in this Dai ethnic village ! 


10) Man Chun Man Temple - located in the middle of the Dai Village, this Buddhist temple has a long history, its architectural design looks magnificent & impressive !  



11) Splashing Water Square, Daizu Garden - large crowd of visitors attending & participating in a water festival singing, dance & a procession / parade of Dai cultural & decorative vehicles carrying a big Dai classical drum, mock ups of peacock & elephant, a highlight of the day in this theme park !   


12) Didi Cab ride (CNY70 = Rm42) from Xishuangbana > Dreamview Shangpin Hotel (Xishuangbana Jinghong Splashing Water Plaza) 


13) Dinner in a local soya noodle soup stall nearby our hotel - savoured a bowl of soya flat noodle soup (CNY12) + chicken offal (CNY6)
