Sunday Feb 16 2025 (Day 7 - Vientiane, Laos) - spent the day & evening roaming this capital of Laos by hailing cabs & small walk ie Nam Pou Park, That Dam Black Stupa, American Center, Talat Sao Mall & Morning Market, King Anouvong Statute & Park, Pha That Luang Buddhist temple & a leisure evening visit to downtown Vientiane Night Market ! Happy to be back here (a taste of the city re-visited a third time !) since my last visits to Vientiane in 2011 & 2017 !

1) Nam Pou Park, Vientiane, Laos - best time to visit is in the evening when the place is fully lighted up !
2) That Dam (Black Stupa), Vientiane, Laos - a 16th century Buddhist stupa in central Vientiane, many Loa people believe it is inhabited by a seven headed naga who tried to protect them from an invasion by the Siamese army in 1827 !
3) American Centre, Vientiane, Laos - run by the US Embassy in Laos, offers English lessons & cultural programs to teach Lao students, provides an engaging & accessible space for young people, art murals by local artistes on exhibits next to the Centre.
4) Talat Sao Mall & Talat Sao Morning Market, Vientiane, Laos
5) Vientiane Bus Terminal, Talat Sao, Laos - opposite the Morning Market - buses to Nong Khai (Laos / Thai border) & outstation towns, town buses serving the inner city of Vientiane & suburban areas.
6) Lao Baguette, Vientiane, Laos - a popular food found in baguette stalls especially near Bus Stations / Terminals, morning market etc, an inexpensive food, very filling & tasty to eat, freshly made, different fillings to choose etc, my travel buddy KF Wong bought a baguette from a stall near the Bus Terminal & eat it on the spot !
7) Pha That Luang, Vientiane, Laos - an iconic landmark in Vientiane, a large, gold-covered Buddhist temple in the centre of the city, originally built in 1566 by King Setthathirat, this 147 ft tall Buddhist monument was built in 3 tiers to represent the path to enlightenment, the stupa has undergone several reconstructions as recently as 1930s due to the invasion of the area; admission fee LAK30,000 (US$1.40)

11) Fude Miao Temple by the Mekong Riverside, founded in 1968, dedicated to a deity worshiped by the local Teochew clan.
12) Lunch in a family owned beef noodle stall in downtown Vientiane, Laos - enjoyed the beef noodle soup (LAK40,000 = US$1.85), tasty & filling !
13) Currency Exchange - got a good rate from a local bank to exchange some Lao currency for our daily use.
14) Vat Maxay, Vientiane, Laos - a Buddhist temple, built in the mid-16th century by King Sutthathirat, opposite the Night Market along Mekong River.

17) Bought a pack of mango sticky rice (LAK60,000 = US$2.80) from this restaurant nearby the Night Market.
18) Downtown Vientiane by Night, Laos - Hard Rock Cafe, Cafe Amazon, hotel food service restaurants, bars & pubs come to life when night falls ! Enjoy a bottle of chilled cool Lao beer & food with your buddies or loved ones till the wee hours of the night !
19) Nam Pou Park by Night - colorful lighting creating a beautiful night scene in this city park !
20) Vientiane Night Market, Laos - night market shopping & food eating go hand in hand, enjoy the moment while the night is young !
21) Bought bamboo black sticky rice (LAK25,000) & skewer chicken satay (LAK70,000) from roadside stalls nearby our hotel as takeaway food for our dinner tonight + instant noodle !
