Day 7 March 13 2024 Wednesday (Keelung & Taipei, Taiwan) - after staying for 2 nights in Keelung & visited the Yehliu Geopark, our group returned to Taipei & stayed on for another 3 nights to explore touristy places in Taipei & New Taipei ..... another round of "treasure hunt" !
Keelung Map
1) Early morning walk (06.00 > 07.00) from hotel to Renai Market, Keelung Miaokuo Night Market, Maritime Plaza & Keelung Port & Waterfront area, misty weather in the early morning !
2) Dianji Temple, Keelung Miaokou Night Market
3) Jinji Bridge & the surrounding (port & waterfront area), Keelung
4) Renai Market, Keelung
5) My favourite flavored milk drink - good for bowel movement !
6) Early lunch in a fish soup stall near the corner of Miaokou Night Market, Keelung, ordered 2 bowls of milk fish & squid soup NT$120 = Rm18.00 + Fried noodle NT$30 (Rm4.50) for 2 sharing.
7) Chenghuang Temple, Keelung - strategically located opposite the Maritime Plaza.
8) Keelung Train Station & Keelung Transit Station (opposite) - built in 1891 but has undergone several renovations in recent years !
9) Taiping Mountain Town & Keelung Landmark, Keelung - start from 113 alley to Taiping Elementary School, narrow steps walking uphill, panoramic & scenic view of Keelung Port & City, cool sea breeze & windy on the hilltop !
10) After the Taiping Town visit, both Thompson & myself visited the Keelung Train Station to top up our EasyCard & also inquiring the local train departure time to Taipei Main Station (for our extended 3 nights stay)
11) A casual walk from Keelung Train station to our hotel, Yung Feng in Lane 49, Ai3 Road, Keelung City Center.
12) Our group's lunch in a Pork leg soup stall in Miaokuo Night Market prior to our train departure to Taipei - savoured a bowl of pork leg soup + braised pork rice + fried egg totalled NT$180 = Rm27 for sharing of two.
13) Ching An Temple, Keelung - passing by this old temple on our way back to Yun Feng hotel to collect our luggage for a short walk to Keelung Train Station (650m)
14) TRA (Taiwan Railways Administration) train ride from Keelung > Taipei Main Station (approx 30km, 40 mins)
Day 7 March 13 2024 Wednesday (Taipei, Taiwan) - extending our stay in Taipei for 3 more nights after visiting Ruifeng & Keelung.

Taipei, Taiwan - our group 2nd visit to Taipei City for this trip having stayed for first two nights in Taipei Ximenting area (after our flight arrival from Kuala Lumpur on Thursday March 7 2024) & prior to our visits to Ruifeng & Keelung (2 nights stay in each city / town)
1) Arriving in Taipei Main Station, Taiwan (15.30) - Welcome back to Taipei, KM !
2) Exited the Taipei Main Station & took a Metro train ride from Taipei Metro station > Minquan West Station for our homestay hotel check-in.
3) Ciaoer APT Homestay Hotel, Lane 48,Tiansiang Rd, Zhongshan District, Taipei - hotel check in time 16.00, hotel building is 10m from Mingquan West Metro station, need password from owner to enter the security door, room tariff NT$1,240 (Rm186 twin sharing) per night.
4) After the homestay hotel check in & a short rest, our group took a Metro train from Mingquan West Station (super convenient as the station is just a few steps from the hotel) > Tamsui to explore the area & spend our evening there.
Tamsui, New Taipei City - located in north Taiwan, sits in the confluence of the Taiwan Straits & the Tamsui River, near the river, busy Tamsui Old Street is lined with shops, restaurants & vendors selling local specialities, also here are the ornate Longshan Temple & centuries old Fuyou Temple, founded by the Spanish, the hilltop Fort San Domingo (Hongmao Castle) was revamped by the Dutch & British.
5) Tamsui, New Taipei City - my 1st visit to Tamsui !
6) Tamsui Old Street is divided into the inner & outer side, the outer street is the Golden Anchor walkway of Tamsui river coast, while the inner side is a traditional old street lined with bustling shops, the far end near the Tamsui Fishermen's Wharf is a perfect spot for sunset viewing - KIV for future visit !
7) Our group dinner in a local eatery stall & restaurant in Tamsui Old Street - savoured a bamboo shoot meat bao (NT$30 = Rm4.50 dumpling) & a bowl of Abula brown tofu mixed with Tianbula (NT$95 = Rm14.25) & fish balls soup (NT$48 = Rm7.20)
8) Shilin Night Market, Taipei - the largest & most famous night market in Taiwan our last visit of the day before retiring to bed !
9) Bye bye to Shilin Night Market (my last visit was in Nov 2004) & a Metro train ride from Jiantan Station to Mingquan West Station, located just opposite to our homestay hotel - another long day but a productive one !
