Sunday March 23 2025 (Day 6 - Anshun, Guizhou) - after the Doupotang waterfall visit & a lunch, our tour group spent the rest of the afternoon visiting the big Huanggoushu Waterfall / Water Curtain Cave & Tianxingqiao Scenic Area until nightfall !

1) Sightseeing No 2 - Huangguoshu Waterfall, Anshun, Guizhou - one of the largest waterfalls in China & East Asia, located on the Baishui River in Anshun, Guizhou; 77.8m high & 101m wide, the main waterfall is 67m high & 83m wide is the highest waterfall in Asia, a 5A National Tourist Area hence large visitor turnout during the day !

2) The long & deep escalator - saved us a lot of energy walking downhill to the Huagguoshu Scenic Area ! Users (non-tour group members) of this escalator ride have to pay CNY30 one way ! No free lunch !

3) Scenic view of Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area from an exit platform of the long escalator.

4) After the long escalator ride,  the start of our up & downhill walk from the lower ground to No 2 > No 4 Waterfall Watching Platform & a return journey via  a suspension bridge; for the oldies like me & my wife, it was like taking up a mini marathon walk or Mao Zedong style "Long March" through thick jungle, gorge & river valley ! Have fun if you decided to walk up from No 4 Waterfall Watching Platform > Water Curtain Cave - the highlight of this Huagguoshu Waterfall visit - both my wife & myself (in our 70s) made it & completed the stretch of this mountain loop trail walk ! Well done !

5) The 2nd Waterfall Viewing Platform at Rhino Pool, Huangguoshu Waterfall

6) The 3rd Waterfall Viewing Platform at Trunk Ridge, Huangguoshu Waterfall - both my wife & myself were indecisive at this stage whether to walk up to the Water Curtain Cave but my wife's sporting spirit won the race at the end, both of us, slow & steady inched our way towards the Water Curtain Cave .....

7) Huangguoshu Waterfall - Front View - spectacular & stunning !

8) Huangguoshu Waterfall - Side View - amazing & awesome !

9) Uphill walk to No 4 Waterfall Watching Platform - so just take up the courage, walk & walk till you are closer & hear the roaring sound of Huagguoshu Waterfall !

10) My wife walking with care & waving at me as she walked up the steps uphill, a little "traffic jam" here !

11) Long line of visitors making their way from the lower viewing platform to the upper Water Curtain Cave, you have to be patient as the walking path leading to the Water Curtain Cave is very narrow, entering one at a time under close supervision (with loud speaker) by security staff !

12) Water Curtain Cave, Huangguoshu Waterfall - this was where the excitement come as you could see water cascading down with a roaring sound from the mountain top making the view very spectacular !

13) Entering the Water Curtain Cave - very challenging as visitors had to inch their way slowly through the dimly lit cave on narrow, wet & slippery steps, a small part of your clothing could be wet, best to wear a raincoat for this stretch of walk !

14) Stream of water cascading down from the mountain top & hearing the sound of flowing water ..... a natural sound of music in the air, the hills are alive !

15) walking passed the interior Water Curtain Cave - a close up view of Huangguoshu Waterfall ! So just enjoy & get a feel of the surrounding.

16) Exiting the Water Curtain Cave & the start of our walk downhill towards the suspension bridge, mission accomplished !

17) Spectacular view of Huanggushu Waterfall Scenic Area from the upper Water Curtain Cave as we descended downhill ..... a big win for my wife who was very sporting taking up the challenge to "march" her way up from the 3rd Waterfall Viewing Platform to No 4th Waterfall Watching Platform ..... leaving behind her footprints & a few of her beautiful photos for remembrance in the years ahead !

18) Our last lap of walk towards the Suspension Bridge & Escalator, exiting) - time to say bye bye to this magnificent looking Huagguoshu Waterfall now that I had made a re-visit since 1998, a lapse of 27 years ! I kept looking back & snatched more pictures for postings to my travel blog giving me a great piece of memory for may years to come !

19) Sightseeing No 3 - our group's visit to Tianxingqiao Scenic Area, Anshun, Guizhou

Tianxingqiao Scenic Area is located in the lower reaches of Huagguoshu Waterfall, the place is divided into 3 areas ie Tianxing Bonsai Area, Tianxing Cave & Water Stone Forest surrounded by natural stones, trees & waterfalls.

20) The start of our "treasure" hunt for our tour members seeking to identify their birthday date embedded on the 365 pieces of stone rocks / slabs lying on the river beds in sequence as we moved along following the right side of the walking paths .... I found mine & my wife too !

21) The Evergreen Gorge, Tianxingqiao, Huangguoshu Scenic Area, Anshun, Guizhou

22) Plants & twists - stems that grows in spiral, an interesting sight !

23) A big lying tree trunk resembles that of a fresh water crocodile on a prowl ! Just beware & walk past quickly if you see one from far !

24) Fairy Ficus Concinna - a lush Ficus concinna grows on a rock 8 metres high & 9 meters wide, some said that the tree resembles that of a flying beauty of Dunhuang, while others said it looks like a young girl of the Buyi ethnicity  hence the name Fairy Ficus Concina ! You have to use your imagination to the fullest to look at the Fairy Ficus Concina whether it matches the look of a Buyi girl !

25) Tiangxing Lake & McDonald's - a short rest & a McDonald's burger or ice cream treat for our tour members !

26) Yellow Fruit on sale at a fruit stall here - look like mandarin oranges ! Huangguoshu in English is probably called "Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall" ! I prefer the mandarin version "Huangguoshu" !

27) Exiting the Tiangxingqiao, Anshun, Guizhou after an almost 1 hour of walk & walk inside this lower reaches of Huangguoshu Scenic area !

28) Boarding a Huangguoshu shuttle bus to an exit area near our tour bus picked up point.

29) Our tour bus passing the Huangguoshu Highway Toll Plaza heading towards our restaurant in suburban Anshun, Guizhou.

30) Our tour group's dinner in a local restaurant in Anshun, Guizhou, let's eat & less talk after long day of walking in the Huangguoshu Scenic Area !
