I must confess that The Colorful Guizhou tourism-theme lives up to its name ie the sightings of the sea of yellow blooming rapeseed (canola) flower field rural landscape, the traditional colorful folk costume of Miao & Dong, the blooming of cherry blossom viewing in late March / April, the rich history & cultural heritage of Miao & Dong villages (over 800 years), the charm of Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village by night, the turquoise lakes of Wolong Pool in Xiaoqikong Scenic Area, the deafening roaring sound of Water Curtain Cave within the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the ancient towns of QingYan & Anshun - all these sightseeing in Guizhou hopefully will prompt you to consider a "colorful" visit to Guizhou, a short air travel of less than 4 hours by chartered flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia > Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou !
Both my wife & myself had visited Guizhou before. My last visit to Guizhou was in 1998 (27 years ago) on a package tour which included a visit to Huangguoshu Waterfall & Longgong Scenic Area in Anshun. In 2019, both my wife & myself visited Jiaxiu Tower in Guiyang city & extended our free & easy visit to Nanning & Kunming.
As late March / early April is a good time to see cherry blossoms or Sakura in Guizhou, China hence both of us decided to sign up (at short notice) a 9 days 7 nights Exploring of Guizhou package tour with Globalite Travel & Tours, Subang Jaya Tel 03 56380698. Missing this March Sakura 2025 visit means both of us have to wait till March / April 2026 to fulfill this travel dream ! As this package tour covered a widespread of touristy places (totalled 18), some in remote places which required 3 to 4 hours of bus journey & lots of walking inside the scenic area in 7 major cities / towns / villages in Guizhou Province, it was a big challenge for both of us, aged over 70s (daily early morning calls & late hotel check-ins etc) but overall we were very pleased with the outcome (including hotel accommodations, food, tour bus services) & the daily guided tours (a big thank you to Alvina Chin, the Malaysian Tour Leader & Xiao Loong, the China Tour Guide) for their professionalism & excellent services & tour commentary & attending to our tour members daily needs thus we were able to accomplish all the visits to a number of top-notch sightseeing places as featured in Globalite tour brochure. The tourist destinations that intrigued me a lot were the Libo's Xiaoqikong & Daqikong Scenic Area, Zhaoxing Dong Village & Tang'an Terrace, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, QingYan Ancient Town, Qianling Park in Guiyang, Ancient Bridge of Xiaoqikong & re-visiting (a down the memory lane) the Huangguoshu Waterfall & Longgong in Anshun & Jiaxiu Tower in Guiyang. No doubt, the Gui'an Cherry Blossom Garden / Park, Pingba visit was a major highlight of this tour package especially for my wife !
The March 2025 Guizhou trip was my 26th visit to China since my first package tour visit to China in 1997 ! Driven by an ancient China history dating back to the Qin (221 BC) > Qing dynasty (1,644), 59 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in China; a remarkably diverse culture characterised by its vast territory, 56 minority ethnic groups; religious, philosophical traditions & Confucius thinking; efficient public transport infrastructure, 48,000km of high speed rail network with a design speed of 200 > 350km per hour; modern shopping malls, diverse Chinese cuisine (Peking Duck, dim sum, ramen, Miao dishes etc) - the sum of all these probably had driven me yearning to see a greater China for the past 28 years till now !
Passion in travelling, a burn-out sign for China travel, age is caching up now that I am 75 comes next month or just keep moving as age is not a barrier in travelling ? In the interim over the last 2 years (Oct 2023 > March 2015), I had made a total of 5 visits to China & 1 visit to Taiwan - so look like China is still in my bucket of country list & radar of travel for the coming years as long as I am able & healthy !

Food Glorious Food - Miao, Dong, Yao & Danzhai cuisine, Guizhou dishes, Guizhou light beer & baijiu (rice wine) .... a few round of "Yam Seng" by our tour members & tour guides, fortunately none of our tour members ended up walking like a mud crab after the Baijiu toast ! Throughout the 7 solid days of this Guizhou package tour in China, me & my wife had the opportunity to taste a wide variety of Guizhou food served in hotel buffet breakfasts (total 7) & restaurant food (7 lunches & 7 dinners) - so a total of 21 meals of good food & good company to cheer up my sightseeing days in Guizhou, China !

Last but not the least, in a Miao long table banquet, beautiful Miao girls in traditional Miao dressing moving around & singing, inviting guests to a drinking ritual, Miao style "High Mountain Flowing Water" (as a mark of respect to all invited guests like treating high mountains & flowing rivers with utmost respect !) challenging guests to sip as much Guizhou baijiu (white rice wine) as possible down your throat to everybody's cheer & delight, hopefully after this bout of liquor drinking you could get back to your senses (not seeing stars in your eyes !) & continuing eating the various banquet food placed in front of you ! A number of our tour members (unsung hero or heroine) participated in this baijiu drinking ritual ! What a joyful night for our tour group !

Tuesday March 18 2025 (Day 1 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) - Batik Air (Chartered flight) departing 17.35 from Kuala Lumpur to Guiyang (air travel approx 4 hours), arriving in Guiyang International Airport at around 22.00, a delay in airport exit & boarding of tour bus due to bureaucracy in filing of a damaged luggage claim report by one of our tour members at the Guiyang Airport hence a late hotel check-in close to midnight !
1) Arriving (14.15) in Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 from my Subang Jaya home (approx 45km, 45 mins car drive); meet up with Tour Leader, luggage check-in, issuance of boarding pass etc
2) Malaysian immigration clearance & security check ie bottled water & power bank checking etc, water refilled on board the Batik Air !
3) Waiting lounge Gate G10, KLIA 1 for our flight OD 608 departing (17.35) from Kuala Lumpur > Guiyang
4) On board the Batik Air - almost full occupancy for this evening flight to Guiyang !
5) A mid-night MOB (meal on board) - Batek Air chicken rice as our supper of the night !
6) Beautiful sunset moment in another corner of the globe as viewed from the plane's windows !
7) Arriving in Guiyang International Airport - Welcome to Guiyang, China, sightings of Colorful Guiyang Tourism advertisement boards in Airport Arrival Hall, immigration clearance, passport stamping, luggage collection, meet up with our China Tour Guide (Xiao Loong) & finally on board of our tour bus ready to drive us to our 1st hotel accommodation in Guiyang to begin our 1st sightseeing visit in the following morning ! Sleep well tonight, the best is yet to come !
