My 9 days 7 nights Package Tour to Guizhou, China (March 18 > 26 2025) March 24 2025 (Day 7) Part 2

Qingyun Ancient Town, Guiyang
Qingyuan Market & Pedestrian Street
Guiyang, Guizhou

Monday March 24 2025 (Day 7 - Guiyang) Part 2 - after the Gui'an Cherry Blossom Garden / Park visit, we had 2 more sightseeing visits ie QingYan Ancient Town & Qingyun Market.  The evening Colorful Guizhou Style Performance in Guiyang Grand Theatre (19.20 > 20.40) was an optional program (CNY298 Pay Your Own) & has to be pre-booked by the China Tour Guide for interested tour members !

1) Our group tour's lunch in a local restaurant in the southern suburb of Guiyang after the Gui'an Cherry Blossom's visit, for this lunch, our tour members had the opportunity to sample a dish of the stewed / braised pig trotter, a specialty food in this ancient town ! It was reported that the QingYun township saw the birth of a zhuangyuan (scholar), a title conferred to the one who ranked first in the highest imperial examination in China ! The scholar surnamed Zhao ate stewed pig's feet cooked by his mother before attending the imperial examination & scored the highest mark, after that everyone in Qingyun township started calling stewed pig's feet as Zhuangyuan Pig Trotter or champion pig's feet !

2) Sightseeing No 2 - Qingyan Ancient Town, Guiyang, Guizhou - first built in the 11th year of Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dunasty(1378AD), now a famous historical & culture town in China & a National 5A tourist attraction, the ancient buildings built in Ming & Qing dynasties ie temples, pavilions, ancestral halls, dwellings, stone archways & city walls are well preserved; located on the southern suburb of Guiyang, the ancient town is also famous for serving the best braised pork knuckles & pork legs in Guizhou !

3) Stewed / braised pig trotter (Zhuangyuan Pig Trotter) a specialty food in QingYan Ancient Town, Guiyang, row of food stalls / restaurants here served this specialty dish (a must eat) to visitors / tourists ! If both your legs are weak, why not try & eat a plate of stewed pig's feet (more bony) or Pig's trotter (more meaty) to enhance the strength of your leg's muscles or kneecap ! Upon my return to home, I am looking forward to buy a fresh pig's trotter from the Subang Jaya Wet Market so that my wife could hone her culinary skill to cook a dish of stewed pig's trotter for my family members, eating to our full satisfaction !

4) Sightseeing No 3 - Qingyun Market & Pedestrian Street, Guiyang, Guizhou - opportunity to taste & buy local snacks, window shopping or buy discounted post-winter wears from nearby shops etc

5) Bought bean paste cakes, Chinese walnut cookies & crispy sachima totalled CNY60 (Rm36) from a pastry / cookies shop nearby Qingyuan Market, Guiyang.

6) Light refreshment (mango ice dessert CNY15) in a F & B stall nearby the Qingyun Market, Guiyang

7) Our group's dinner in a local restaurant in downtown Guiyang; this 8-9 course restaurant feast will be our final dinner for this 9 days package tour as tomorrow, our late dinner will be MOB (meal on board) ie Batek Air style chicken rice - a big contrast ! In travelling you win some, you lose some. Sometimes, a small eat maybe more palatable than a big feast !

8) Sightseeing No 4 - Colorful Guizhou Style Performance in Guiyang Grand Theatre, Guiyang - optional CNY298 (PYO Pay Your Own), my wife & myself opted out & spent our time (19.20 > 20.40) resting at the visitor reception area & also went shopping & bought 2 t-shirts (CNY25 each) in a nearby underground shopping centre located opposite the Grand Theatre despite a drizzling in the evening !

9) Hotel Accommodation: late hotel check-in (20.45) for our group's final night stay in Holiday Inn, Guiyang; enjoyed our stay in this particular hotel & eating the hotel buffet breakfast !
