Tuesday March 25 2025 (Day 8 - Guiyang) - our tour group's final day in Guiyang before flying home, visited 3 sightseeing places in & around Guiyang City ie Qianling Park, Huanguoyuan Wetland Park / White House & Jiaxiu Pavilion. Departed Guiyang International Airport at 23.05 & arriving Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 04.00 thus ending my 9 days 7 nights package tour seeing the best & highlights of Guizhou covering the towns / cities of Guiyang, Libo, Zhaoxing, Xijiang, Anshun & Zhenning,
1) Hotel buffet breakfast - my final day in Guiyang, Guizhou before heading to Guiyang International Airport in the evening to board our flight back to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; a good mix of western & oriental food for our pick in Holiday Inn Hotel, Guiyang; eat well, walk well & sleep well as we have a full day of 3 more sightseeing in Guiyang before leaving for Guiyang Airport for our return chartered flight by Batik Air to Kuala Lumpur !
2) Hotel check-out (08.30) from Holiday Inn Hotel, Guiyang
3) A small walk nearby Holiday Inn Hotel after the buffet breakfast & prior to hotel check-out, cityscape of downtown Guiyang as viewed from the moving tour bus.
4) Sightseeing No 1 - Qianling Park, Guiyang - Qianling Park, characterised by its majestic peaks, clear waters, serene forests, it is known as the No 1 Mountain in Southern Guizhou, a short walk from the Qianlingshan Metro station, the dropped off point for our tour bus.
5) Qianlingshan - No 1 Mountain in South Guizhou; yes, I hear you & our tour members were pleased to show up here !
6) Qianling Lake, Qianling Park, Guiyang, Guizhou
7) Qianling Cableway - a few our tour members chose to take the cable car (CNY20 one way) to visit Kanzhu Pavilion which is on top of Qianling Mountain; from the Pavilion, you could have a panoramic view of Guiyang City on a clear blue sky, a big thank you to Alvina Chin (Malayisan Tour Leader) & our tour members who contributed a few of the pictures taken at the Qianling Mountain top - very scenic view ! There are steps for you to walk up & down (approx 1.5hr to 2 hours), most could prefer to take the cable car up & then walk down !
8) The Site of Chiang Kai Sek & Zhang Xueliang Meeting Place in Qianling Park during The Chinese Civil War (1945 > 1949), an historic event, Zhang Xueliang was a Chinese General who in 1928 succeeded his father Zhang Zuolin as the commander of the Northeastern Army; in the Xi'an Incident (1936), Zhang Xueliang (a Chinese warlord) together with General Wang Hucheng compelled the Nationalist Leader Chiang Kai Sek to form an alliance with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to fight against the Japanese, due to this Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xueliang was under house arrest by Chiang Kai Sek who later fled to Taiwan in 1948, Zhang died in Taiwan in 2001 at the age of 100, a forgotten Chinese Hero ! Yang Hucheng & his son were killed by Chiang's secret police in Kylin Cave, Qianlingshan. Both General Zhang Xueliang & General Wang Hucheng are highly regarded as patriots in the Chinese history !
7) Line dance by Chinese "aunties & uncles" from the local community in Qianling Park, Guiyang in the early morning, a brief stopover, both my wife & myself enjoyed the music & line dance performed by the various groups of mostly senior citizens / people here (you are more than welcome to join in & dance solo if you do not have a local partner, a little dancing is a marvellous thing) ! Very pleasing to watch especially with the music & song of oldies & yesteryears ! It will nice to hear Cliff Richard's "Summer Holiday" & John Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever" in this Middle Kingdom country ..... keep on dreaming, KM !
8) Just walk & walk (you won't be missing in action as they are clear direction signs in the Park), Qianling Park, Guiyang, Guizhou - beware of monkeys along the side roads but they caused no harm as we passed through this stretch of road !
9) Xiaomeiwan Square, Qianling Park, Guiyang - a local musical band (all are Seniors) & dance troupe putting their acts together like the dancing prince & queen (best still singing gently like The Beatles), another pleasing watch in this early morning for me & my wife !
10) Kylin Cave - The site of General Zhang Xueliang under house arrest by Chiang Kai Sek of Kuomintang Party during the Chinese Civil War (1945 > 1949) involving a military struggle between the Nationalists (Kuomintang Party) under Chiang Kai Sek & Communist Party under Mao ZeDong; pictorials & narratives of General Zhang Xueliaing, General Yang Hucheng & other patriots are on displays at the site !
11) Zoo Panda Pavilion, Qianling Park - spotted 2 pandas in the pavilion; are you as cute as a Panda ? If you enjoy chewing & eating sugar canes, you are most likely look like a Panda !
12) Walkabout in Qianling Park towards the Park South Gate to meet up with our tour members & adjourned for lunch in downtown Guiyang City.
13) Exiting the Qianling Park & a short walk to the main road.
14) Advertisement boards, Qianling Park promoting day tours to various touristy places in & around Guiyang, Guizhou
15) Our tour group's lunch in a local restautant in downtown Guiyang City - more than enough food ie duck, pork, chicken, fish, tofu, vegetables, soup & egg prepared in different cooking styles for our table of 10 !
16) Sightseeing No 2 - Huaguoyuan Shopping Mall, Guiyang, Guizhou & Huaguoyuan Wetland Park, located in the heart of the Guiyang City, surrounded by beautiful & enchanting landscape, window shopping & a leisure stroll of the Wetland Park.
17) Guiyang White House - a gigantic structure located in the posh Huaguoyuan Wetland Park area of Guiyang City, an iconic landmark & by far the largest mansion in China, construction cost reported to be around 2.7 billion yuan !
18) Sightseeing No 3 - Jiaxiu Pavilion (1598), Guiyang, Guizhou, a famous landmark Guiyang with significant historical & cultural importance, my 2nd visit, last visit was in 2019 together with my wife !
19) Our tour group's dinner (final) in a local restaurant in downtown Guiyang City, Guizhou - I think I had enough of hotel buffet breakfast (8 meals) & local Chinese restaurant food (9 > 10 course lunch & dinner meals daily for the last 8 days !) ! The smell & taste of Hokkien mee, Hakka pan mee, Cantonese style Yin Yong, Hainanese chicken, Teow Chew porridge, bat kut teh, Indian dosa & Malay coconut flavoured nasi lemak filled the air & floating in my mind before arriving home ..... go for it - Food Glorious Food !

21) Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, Guizhou, China - arrived earlier in the airport (19.30), realised that check-in counters only open 2 hours prior to flight departure, boarding Malaysian chartered flight, Batek Air departing Guiyang Airport 23.05 ETA KLIA1 at 03.40, inflight meal (supper) serving at around 00.30 !
Wednesday March 26 2025 (Day 9 - Kuala Lumpur) - no more sightseeing, just relax & rest as you will be on board the Batek Air for a few hours before the plane touches down in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. A new day & Home Sweet Home once again !
Meal on board the flight well past midnight - just enjoy the food & after that try your best to snooze off for a 3 or 4 hours before the flight landing (04.00) in Kuala Lumpur International Airport - I look forward for a new day & some rest; last but not least, we will be back to our normal retirement life, but Hari Raya (Malay New Year) is around the corner (March 31 & April 1 - both days are public holiday & many of our fellow Malaysians & their families are driving home (Balik Kampung) celebrating with friends, relatives & loved ones in their hometowns ! Selamat Hari Raya !
Arriving (04.00) in Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang, Selangor - immigration clearance, luggage claim & e-hailing a Grab (Rm75 inclusive of toll) from the airport to Subang Jaya home sweet home (05.30) ! Selamt Datang (Welcome) home, KM & all the tour members of Globalite Travel - hope to "bump" into you all once again in another corner of the earth in the near future. Take Care & stay healthy realising I am 74 going on to 75 comes May 2025 !
"Revenge Eating" - I missed my wife's home cooked food so much for the last few weeks (as I was away on two overseas travels ie Feb 10 > March 2 & March 18 > 26 2025), hence after my return from China, I 'taobao or takeaway" some of the street food I loved to eat in my neighborhood (these food "shines" on my life once again) & also eat-out with my family members in a local restaurant (after the Ching Ming prayers) in Subang Jaya ! Simple & tasty Malaysian style food to my delight, suite my taste bud & eating pleasure (eat to your satisfaction) ! Echoing this popular song "Country Road or Food takes me home to the place I belong" ! Happy eating & travelling, KM !
