" Very little is needed to make a happy LIFE; it's all within yourself, in your way of thinking "
" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) free & easy visit (0700>14.00) to Carey Island & Pulau Indah, Selangor on Sunday Dec 12 2021 together with my 3 sisters, travelling by my own vehicle (using Waze); my 20th outdoor trip after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 5 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, a National Vaccination Campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (Phase 1 started in Feb 2021), as at Dec 8 2021, a total of 23.7 million people or 97.1% of the adult population in Malaysia have completed their Covid-19 vaccinations; Selangor (my home state) is now under the National Recovery Phase 4 (NRP4) starting from Monday Oct 11 2021 hence the Malaysian Government has eased restrictions allowing individuals with vaccination certificate or card for inter-state travels, dine-in restaurants, hotel accommodations & homestays, outdoor activities etc)

1) Carey Island (Pulau Carey), Kuala Langat, Selangor - named after a successful British coffee & rubber planter called Valentine Carey who cleared much of the natural vegetation for agriculture uses just over 100 years ago, a large flat island off the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia in the Kuala Langat district of Selangor state, the area about 32,000 acres roughly a fifth of the size of Singapore, Sime Darby is the biggest owner of oil palm plantation & in down stream processing of palm oil etc; miles & miles, rows & rows of oil palm trees (young & mature) lined on both sides of the main roads or river streams of Carey Island; Malaysia is currently the world second largest exporter of palm oil ! Indonesia is No 1 !
2) Mah Meri Cultural Village, Carey Island, Kuala Langat, Selangor - a major tourist attraction, a traditional village which provides an introduction to the culture of the Mah Meri, an ethnic group native to West Malaysia, the museum has displays of art pieces (famous for its unique wooden statutes & masks carved from a rare red swamp hardwood called Nyireh Batu) & excellent explanations of the local legends about the tribes, Mah Meri (around 1400 people in the community) is one of the 18 Orang Asli (original people) tribes living in Malaysia; due to our early arrival (ie before 0900) the museum was closed but I managed to take a few pictures of this cultural village outside of the wooden fencing / front gate ! I shall return one fine day !
3) Orang Asli Kraf Centre, Carey Island, Kuala Langat, Selangor - located opposite the Mah Meri Cultural Village where the Mah Meri tribes showcase their handicraft products; closed at the time of my visit !
4) Indigenous village houses in Carey Island, Kuala Langat, Selangor
5) Pantai Tanjung Rhu & the surrounding, Carey Island, Selangor - no white sandy beach but a good place for a brief stopover & taking some pictures; as the beach is located south of Port Klang, you could see from far a number of cargo container ships arriving, parking & waiting for berthing near the coast of Port Klang !
6) Plantation Museum, Carey Island, Selangor - a history museum set up in Sime Darby Plantation, security at the entry point advised the museum is closed on Sunday hence unable to visit this museum !
7) Laguna Park, Pulau Indah, Klang, Selangor - visited Pier 1, a haven for anglers with a passion for angling & nearby places, visitors very much lacking even during the Sunday weekend, observed that Pier 1 is not well maintained & requires some spring cleaning to give the place a more "healthy" look !
8) Westports Building, Pulau Indah, Klang, Selangor - manages port operations dealing with container & conventional cargo; driving leisurely in Pulau Indah gave us a glimpse of Westports & the southern Port Klang ....
After the Carey Island & Pulau Indah visit, our group had a noodle lunch Rm35 (US$8.20, 3 noodle dishes + 1 pot of Chinese tea, a treat from sister Mei) in Soon Tong Restaurant, Taman Selatan, Klang before heading home sweet home ! Another great weekend outing, a small trip, a little eat & a small life pleasure to end the day !
