Day 4 Wednesday June 24 2026 (Phuket & Koh Samui) - an early morning hotel check out (06.00) & took a Grab (300bht) from our hotel to Phuket Bus Terminal 2 to buy a combo bus & ferry ticket (515bht = Rm63) to Koh Samui island; upon arrival in Nathon Pier, Koh Samui, we took a local bus (songthaew, @150bht) to our Cosi Samui Chaweng Beach Hotel in Bophut;  my 1st day in Koh Samui after staying 2 nights in Patong Beach, Phuket. My last visit to Koh Samui was in June 2013. 

Phuket > Donsak Pier (285km) 

Donsak Pier > Nathon Pier (33km, 1,5hr)

1) Phuket Bus Terminal 2 - took a Grab 300bht from our hotel to Phuket Bus Terminal, bought a combo ferry & bus ticket (515bht = Rm63) from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 > Donsak Pier > Seatran Ferry crossing > Nathon Pier, Koh Samui.

2) Boarding an airconditioned bus from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 > Donsak Pier, Surat Thani ofr our ferry ride to Koh Samui island

3) Countryside scenery from Phuket > Donsak Pier, Surat Thani 

4) R & R stop (20 mins) - toilet break & light refreshment 

5) Continuing our bus ride towards the Donsak Pier, Surat Thani.

6) Arriving in Donsak Pier for our Seatran ferry ride to Nathon Pier, Koh Samui 

7) Donsak Pier, Surat Thani - approx. 40km south of Surat Thani town, a port of exit for travellers to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan & Koh Tao. 

8) The start of our Seatran ferry ride (13.00) from Donsak Pier > Nathorn Pier, Koh Samui (approx 1.5hr)

9) Scenic view of deep blue sea of Andaman off the coast of southern Thailand - The Andaman Sea is a marginal sea of the north eastern Indian Ocean bounded by the coastlines of Myanmar & Thailand along the gulf of Martaban & the west side of the Malay Peninsula & separated from the Bay of Bengal to its west by the Andaman islands & the Nicobar Islands. 

10) Exiting the ferry upon arriving in Nathon Pier, Koh Samui 

11) Took a local bus (songthaew, @150bht) from Nathon Pier to Cosi Samui Chaweng Beach Hotel together with 2 passengers on board to Chaweng Beach area. 

12) Hotel accommodation (2 nights): enjoyed my stay in Cosi Samui Hotel, Chaweng Beach, Bophut; room tariff Rm119 (US$29), 2 single beds. The hotel has a travel agent desk selling day tour islands hopping packages & city tours, also selling combo bus & ferry tickets for return trip from Koh Samui to Phuket, Krabi etc 

13) Evening walk from our hotel to Beach Road & along the Chaweng Beach area - familiarisation & exploratory visit, retired to bed earlier (21.30) as we had a long day bus journey / ferry ride from Phuket > Koh Samui island !
