My 29 days to Southern Xinjiang, Gansu & Shaanxi, China (Aug 27 > Sept 24 2025) Day 8 Kuqa, Xinjiang (D-1)

Day 8, Wednesday Sept 3 2025 (Kuqa, Xinjiang Day 1 - after a 2 night stay in Korla, my next city of visit is Kuqa, Southern Xinjiang; upon arrival in Kuqa, we focused our visit to the Old City area of Kuqa, Xinjiang.

2) Live telecast of The 2025 China Victory Day Parade held on Chang'an Avenue, Beijing on Sept 3 2025 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War & the Second World War. Over 12,000 troops of the People's Liberation Army participated in the parade.

10) Kuqa is a country level city in Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, located in the center of Xinjiang, where the northern limit of the Tarim Basin meets the southern foot of the Tian Shan Mountains. In 630, Xuanzang, a well known Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, traveller & translator visited Kucha during the early Tang Dynasty. 

11) Prince Mansion of Kuqa Scenic Area, Xinjiang - also known as Kucha Palace, a historical site in Kuqa, showcasing the 190 year history of the local Uygur princes. The reconstructed palace combines Uyghur & Central Plans Chinese architectural styles & features a Kucha Museum, a Palace Exhibition area & the old city wall, offering insights into ancient Kucha culture, Buddhist art & the deeds of the princes. A National 4A tourist attraction.

17) The Kuche (also called Kucha) Grand Mosque - the second largest mosque in China's Xinjiang region, built in the 15th century & rebuilt after a 1931 fire, its architecture blends Uygur, Persian & other cultures, featuring a prominent blue-brick gatehouse & minaret, an elaborate prayer hall with carve columns & a green-glazed dome.  


 

18) Fried ramen noodle (Y$12) dinner in a local restaurant near the Old Kuche city, Xinjiang 


19) Kuqa Old City by Night, Xinjiang - food, music & entertainment ! 


20) Bought 3 Hami melons (Y$5) from a roadside stall in Kuqa Old City Night Market.
