Qing Prince's Palace Chongqing Avenue, Tianjin |
Day 5 Monday Oct 14 2024 (Tianjin) Part 1 - spent my morning visiting Wudadao (Five Great Avenue) & Qing Prince's Palace in downtown Tianjin.
1) Hotel buffet breakfast in Meihao Lizhi Hotel, Tianjin
2) After the breakfast, both my wife & myself took a metro train ride from Yingkoudao Station > Xiabailou Station & visited the Tianjin International Trade Centre (window shopping) & the surrounding (exploratory visit)
3) Wudadao Historical Cultural Tourism Area, Tianjin - known as Five Great Avenue encircled by Machang Street, Xikang Road, Guangzhou Road, Chengdu Street & Nanjing Road. The area has more than 2,000 buildings of various styles, most of which are gardens & apartment buildings of different periods from Europe; altogether 423 western-style buildings have been enlisted as historic buildings by Tianjin Municipal Government.
4) Qing Prince Palace, 55, Chongqing Avenue, Tianjin - Zai Zhen, Prince Qing of Qing dynasty, has been the Minister of the Office for Agriculture, Industry & Commerce. He bouhgt this mansion when he moved to Tianjin in 1926 & it was then called Qing Prince's Palace. The 2 story brick-timber structure building (with basement) was constructed in 1922 by the Qing eunuch Xiaodezhang. The portico runs through the first & second floor which presents a simple style & luxury decoration. A harmony of western & traditional Chinese style is realised here.
5) Light refreshment (cakes) eaten during my visit to Qing Prince's Palace, Tianjin.
