Friday Oct 18 2024 (Mt CangYanShan, Jingxing, Hebei) - took a public bus (1.5 hours) from Jingxing > CangYanShan Tourist Area & devoted our full day to walk & hike up this renowned mountain resort used by Ann Lee, the Director & Producer of a blockbuster film, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon to shoot the scene of two cliffs rising steadily upwards, almost perpendicular to the ground - now I realised the challenge & excitement after walking & hiking this stretch of uphill roads to Fuqing Temple sandwiched between two steep mountain cliffs ..... sheer luck for our group going ahead with this visit despite a wet weather or was it when the going gets tough, the tough gets going ? The answer was my travel buddy's spouse coaxed us to take the public bus right up to the CangYanShan Tourist Centre despite a drizzling morning & assess the situation upon our arrival (take one step at a time) ...... logical thinking & the outcome was our group made it to see the best of this famous CangYanShan ..... slow (poor weather) & steady (step by step) wins the race !
1) Hotel buffet breakfast (07.00 > 08.00) - enjoying the food & chatting with my travel buddy, Thompson, the effect of the wet weather this morning which might hinder our visit to Mt CangYanShan, supposed to be the highlight of our 2 nights stay in Jingxing, a difficult decision indeed as upon our hotel check-in, the reception advised that for the next two days, we would be greeted with a wet weather - hinting a wrong timing of our visit & be prepared to spend your day & night in this quaint little town confined to the hotel room instead !
2) People's Square, Jingxing, Hebei - right in the heart of the town centre; enjoyed my morning stroll in this square despite a wet weather, away from the hustle & bustle of city life !
3) Bus ride (Rmb14 = Rm8.50, 1.5 hours) from Jingxing County > CangYanShan Tourist Area
4) Countryside scenery as viewed from the moving bus's windows
5) Arriving in CangYanShan Tourist Service Centre Complex
6) Publicity of major tourist attractions in Hebei, CangYanShan Tourist Service Centre Complex
7) Admission ticket Mt Cangyan - decision making time whether our group should go ahead with the mountain walk / hike or take a return bus back to Jingxing town ? After assessing the ground & weather condition, our group decided to take the challenge ! Good news for oldies like me & my wife - free admission for Seniors above 70s; 50% discount for Seniors above 60s; what a warm welcome to both my wife & myself enjoying the freebies of taking a to & fro shuttle bus & entry to Mt CangYanShan ..... a big thank you to the Hebei Tourism Authorities !
8) Shuttle bus ride from the Tourist Service Centre Complex > CangYanShan Tourist Area (approx 15 minutes)
