Malaysia (My Little LIFE Pleasure - A Saturday Night Gathering with my Ex-Colleagues) August 10 2024

A group of 11 of my ex-colleagues (just nice for a football team !) plus me attended a re-union dinner gathering (last meet up was probably 3-4 years ago) at a local seafood restaurant in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The 12 "post Covid-19 survivors" who attended were (in alphabet order) Adeline, Cheng, Euniece, Goh, Jennifer, Letchumi, Lisa, Lolly,  Parminder, Rosemary, Ryan & Shen, a big thank you to Jennifer who was the main organiser for this seafood dinner ! Good Friends Good Food Good Times Good Mood - a jolly Good Gathering !

1) Hoi Peng Seafood Restaurant, SS2/24, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - a well known local seafood restaurant in SS2, Petaling Jaya, savoured 9 Chinese tai chow dishes, fresh & tasty (seafood, chicken, egg & vegetables) + Buns + Chinese Tea totalled food bill Rm854 (US$190) inclusive of service tax, each contributed Rm71 (US$15.80) for this delicious yummy yummy dinner ! Thank you to Euniece for contributing the Sparkling Rose drink for this dinner !

2) Drinks in Butter & Spice Bakery Cafe, 53, Jalan SS2/30, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - after a delicious seafood dinner, our group of 11 adjourned to a trendy bakery cafe ie Butter & Spice located in the same vicinity in SS2/30, Petaling Jaya, within walking distance from the Hoi Peng Seafood Restaurant ! Our group savoured a slice of  chocolate cakes & the famous Matcha & Hojicha flans encased in flaky charcoal tart-shaped crusts (Rm13 = US$2.90++) & each of us picked a beverage of our choice & my beverage was Matcha Latte (Rm13 = US$2.90++), others were Pistachio Latte (Rm15 = US$3.30++), Valrhona Chocolate Cold (Rm15), English Breakfast (Rm12 = US$2.60++), Flat White (Rm12), Latte Hot (Rm12), Seasonal Blend (Rm12), Yuzu Jasmine (Rm12) & Soursop Virgin Mojito (Rm16 = US$4.50) - total food bill Rm258 (US$57.30) each contributed Rm23 (US$5.10) for this drinking session in this cosy ambience cafe - my 1st visit !

3) Four Beans Soy Desserts, 24, Jalan S24/13, Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - the founder of this soy dessert chain, Mr Luo has an interesting story to relate especially about his family's secret recipe in making soy products ..... another round of eating, light supper in Four Beans, a famous local soy dessert chain, our group of 4 in a table each savoured a bowl of white peach Oolong shaved ice with toppings + Taro balls, a treat from Jennifer ! My 1st visit.

5) SS2 Durian Man Station, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - prior to our group's seafood dinner, my ex-colleague (Shen) drove me to the SS2 Durian Man Station, a well known outlet for durian lovers eating in Petaling Jaya, observed a large crowd in this station - looked like a durian feast for those who showed up (the 2 bins behind the outlet were full of durian shells, sign of roaring business !), wonder what the prices like for Musang King & other popular varieties ie Black Thorn, Red Prawn, XO, D101 & D-24 (Sultan) in this August month (peak season from July > mid August) ..... if you are happy to part away a few of your Rm50 dollar notes for a durian feast, go for it while the stock lasts or before the season ends !
