Day 2 August 13 2024 (Kuala Besut & Pulau Perhentian Kechil, Terengganu) - an exciting day awaiting for me & my travel buddy, both being first timer to Pulau Perhentian Kecil setting foot on this renowned island resort in Malaysia ! For this island visit, we stayed for a night in Fisherman Village, Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island) & returned to Kuala Besut for another night stay before heading home ! The weather was good but warm & humid throughout the day, the sky was clear & blue although weather forecast reported scattered thunderstorms in the late afternoon, the sea was calm & peaceful so no worries, KM & KF, just enjoy every moment of your time in Kuala Besut & Pulau Perhentian !

1) Breakfast in Kuala Besut prior to our boat ride to Pulau Perhentian Kecil - enjoying a local traditional breakfast ie Apam telur (egg pancake topped with shredded coconut @ Rm1.50 = US$0.33) & pulut bakar (charcoal grilled sticky rice stuffed with shredded dry beef rendang wrapped in banana leaves @Rm3 = US$0.67), bought Rm24 (US$5.30) of these 2 local delicacies from a roadside stall and ate as our breakfast together with a glass of hot coffee / Horlicks (KF's delight) in a local restaurant & also as a takeaway for our lunch today in Pulau Perhentian !

2) Bought our return Sani Express bus tickets (Kuala Besut, Terengganu > Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kuala Lumpur) from a Ticketing Agent operating in Kuala Besut Bus & Taxi Terminal so as to secure a seat for our 09.00 morning departure from Kuala Besut on Thursday August 15 2024.

3) Arriving (free taxi ride provided by our hotel departing 09.30 to the jetty) & awaiting in Kuala Besut Jetty for our boat ride (departing 10.00 & takes approx 40 minutes) to Fisherman Village Jetty, Pulau Perhentian Kechil.

4) Boat ride (return ferry tickets Rm70 = US$15.60, seating capacity 31 passengers), bought the ferry tickets from our hotel + Marine Park conservation fee Rm2 (Senior) from Kuala Besut Jetty > Fisherman Village Jetty, Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island); along the way, a few passengers dropped off to a jetty in Coral Bay, life jackets are readily available for those who like to wear !

5) Arriving in Fisherman Village Jetty, Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island) after a 45 minutes boat ride, the jetty is the central point of the Fisherman Village & on the left or right side of the jetty, you could do some sightseeing & if you are hungry, there are numerous food stalls selling burgers, fried noodle & rice, finger food like donuts, curry puffs, cakes; beverages like fruit juices, coffee & tea etc.

6) General information on marine life in Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu & marine parks in Malaysia & Terengganu (Peninsula Malaysia).

7) Walkabout in the beach area - exploratory visit after leaving our luggage in the hotel reception room due to our early arrival (10.45), hotel check in time is 13.00 but we were granted an early check-in at 12.00, so both of us had a good rest in our airconditioned room as against the scorching sun outside, hot & humid from mid-day to late afternoon !

8) Walkabout (after the beach walk) in Fisherman Village, food court & the floating mosque area, another familiarisation visit ! Take it easy as the village living area is small for you to wander around !

9) From Pulau Perhentian with Love - Tropical paradise, picturesque, beautiful & clean beaches, crystal clear water & coral reefs, powdery white sand, turquoise water, snorkeling & diving, relaxing short trips .... driving home this message "From Pulau Perhentian with Love" to all tourists ie local & foreign,  that was the reason why I showed up in this island resort, approx 455km (by public transport ie express bus) from my home place in Selangor although I am not an enthusiast in outdoor water sports & hiking activities but make the most of my travel merely indulge in sightseeing & getting a feel of this well known island resort in East Coast of Peninsula of Malaysia !

10) Banners, billboards etc promoting the beautiful island of Pulau Perhentian & water taxi services to nearby places for snorkeling / diving eg Long Beach, Turtle Point, Green Coral, Pulau Redang .... charging an average of Rm5 (US$1.10) to Rm7.50 per pax (minimum 2 persons per boat ride) for short distances & for further places up to Rm20 to Rm30 (US$6.70) per ride.

11) Hotel Accommodation (1 night): stayed in Perhentian Sri Tanjung Guest House for 1 night as their location is about 200m from the Fisherman Village jetty, room tariff for a triple bed room Rm154 (US$34) per night (double bed room fully booked hence I had to book a triple bed room for this hotel !)

12) One more time ! Evening walk to beaches, jetty & food service area .... just walk & walk if you are after sightseeing & more sightseeing in this scenic island resort !

13) Floating mosque, Pulau Perhentian Kecil

14) Fisherman Village by Night - took a leisure walk, as it was a week day & non-peak season, the place was quiet except a few of the F & B outlets but colorful lighting & music made the place lively & cheerful ..... after half an hour of walking, we decided to retire & rest in our hotel .... my little LIFE pleasure visiting Pulau Perhentian (Small Island) at this time of the year is about to end comes tomorrow morning, saying bye bye to this beautiful little island in Terengganu, the little high power boats (using jet drive Honda engines), the little kampung (tourist - friendly living village), little swimwear & water sport shops (renting of snorkeling gear for adventure lovers), little cafes & restaurants (food courts & hawker-style stalls), little eat (cup noodles), little country roads (well maintained), little traditional dwellings (rural Malay-style), little expenses (affordable hotels & public transport for Seniors) ..... all the little things I do in planning this exciting island trip, LIFE is too short to be little, very little is needed to make a happy LIFE, it's is all within yourself, in your way of thinking ! Another of KM Go KISS (Keep it simple & sweet) style of visit accomplished in my home country, Malaysia in 2024 !
