Sau Seng Lum Puchong Exhibition Centre - Buddhist temple |
The month of May 2024 has two public holidays ie May 1 (Labor Day) & May 22 (Wesak Day) in my home country, Malaysia, it was also my birthday month ! Happy birthday & happy travelling, KM.
I had 4 meet-ups with my travel buddies (Boon on May 1 Labor Day), KF Wong (May 21) & Thompson (May 18 & 29) to discuss & explore travel opportunities in the 2nd half of 2024 followed by small eats after each meet-up !
My cousin brother (Sung) from Singapore was in town from May 6 > 10; together with my wife & brother Weng, our group of 4 made a 3 days outstation visit to Kuala Sepetang, Taiping & Ipoh, visited a number of touristy places in these 3 country towns & enjoying every bite of the local food !
On the Wesak Day (May 22), together with my wife & 3 sisters, we made a first time visit to Sau Seng Lum Puchong Exhibition Centre / Buddhist Temple followed by a vegetarian lunch in the centre. This year marks the commendation of Buddha's 2,568th birthday !
May is also the climbing season to Mt Everest (8848m). Climbers from all over the world come to Nepal scrambling to reach the top of the highest mountain in the world ! Were there any Mayday signal or distress calls sent out by climbers / mountain guides while ascending or descending during the May 2024 climbing season ? I believe there were as Mt Everest climbing is perhaps the world's most dangerous outdoor sport, so to speak !
May 2024 has come & gone, as for the rest of the year, may the odds be ever in your favor, good luck always !
Wednesday May 29 2024 - meet up with my travel buddy, Thompson in KLREX, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur, passing by the Lee Lam Thye Wet Market, Madras Lane & Petaling Street (Chinatown); after the meet up, both of us adjourned & walked to the nearby Madras Lane for lunch, each of us savoured a bowl of curry Laksa (KM's delight) & Assam Laksa (Thompson's delight) prior to heading home !
1) Lee Lam Thye Wet Market & Madras Lane (off Petaling Street Chinatown), Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - a traditional wet market renamed in the 1990s in honour of Lee Lam Thye, a former Member of Parliament in Bukit Bintang constituency.
Curry Laksa Rm12 (US$2.50) |
Wesak Day (Celebrating the Enlightened One, Wednesday May 22 2024) - also known as Buddha Jayanti, Buddha Purnima & Buddha Day, a celebration of Buddha's birthday & for some Buddhists, marks his enlightenment (when he discovered life's meaning), a holiday traditionally observed by Buddhists in South Asia & South East Asia as well as Tibet & Mongolia, it is the most important Buddhist festival. A public holiday in my home country, Malaysia.
Taman Equine > Sau Seng Lum (approx 23km) |

Happy Wesak Day !
