Malaysia (My 4 days visit to Pekan Nanas, Ayer Baloi, Pontian Kechil, Kukup, Tanjung Piai & Johor Bahru, Johor) June 10 > 13 2024 (Day 2 Part 1)

Day 2 Tuesday Juan 11 2024 - early morning hotel check out & a brief visit to Pontian Fresh Market, Perhentian Pontian seaside, Pontian Tambak Seaview & Shoal; after our morning breakfast in downtown Pontian, our next visit is Kukup Fishing Village followed by Tanjung Piai National Park.

1) Pasar Awan Pontian (Pontian Fresh Market), Pasar Lelong Ikan, Pontian Kechil, Johor - operating hours 05.00 > 13.00


2) Pusat Perdagangan Pontian & Perhentian Pontian Pontian Kechil, Johor - Pontian commercial centre & Pontian seaside & waterfront area - scenic view & nice for a morning & evening stroll !


3) Pontian Tambak Seaview & Pontian Shoal, Pontian Kechil, Johor - sandbank, rocky area, angling, fishermen jetty, docking of fishing & leisure boats, trucks loading the daily fish catches, sunrise & sunset viewing spot etc 


4) Morning breakfast in Kedai Kopi Kwan restaurant in downtown Pontian Kechil, Johor, our group savoured fish ball noodle soup, dried charsiew noodle, toasted bread, hot coffee, porridge & deep fried dough stick (youtiao) - totalled Rm38 (US$8.50)

5) Countryside scenery from Pontian Kechil > Kukup, Johor

6) Kukup, Johor - a fishing village in south Malaysia's Johor state, known for its seafood restaurants built on stilts over the water; offshore to the west is Kukup Island National Park which has boardwalk through mangroves, an observation tower & a suspension bridge; to the south, the coastal mangroves & mudflats of Tanjung Piai National Park are home to dusky leaf monkeys, long tailed macaques & migratory birds, my last visit to Kukup was in Oct 2017 !  


7) Kampung Nelayan Air Masin, Kukup, Pontian, Johor - a mix of modern homestay & traditional homestay dwellings to pamper tourists, mangrove swamps, coastal wetlands, houses on wooden or concrete stilts, drying of shrimps  



8) E-bikes for hire in Kukup Fishing Village, Johor  - roaming the fishing village & nearby places with ease for Rm15 (US$3.40) per hour or Rm100 (US$22.50) per day using rented E-bikes !

10) Fishing Village, Kukup Fishing Village, Johor - wooden floating fishing platforms as viewed from the Kukup Fishing Village, an interesting sight & enjoying the sea breeze at every moment  !

14) Kukup International Ferry Terminal
, Johor, Malaysia - ferry rides to nearby Karimum island, Indonesia. 


15) Kukup Laut Fishing Village, Johor - homestay, e-bikes for hire, Chinese temples, fishing kelong, local sea food stalls etc.  


16) Tanjung Piai National Park, Johor - large national park with a boardwalk for walking through mangrove forests & mudflats, the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, admission fee Rm3 (US$0.70) for senior citizens, my last visit to Tanjung Piai was in Oct 2017 !
