Malaysia (My 4 days visit to Pekan Nanas, Ayer Baloi, Pontian Kechil, Kukup, Tanjung Pial & Johor Bahru, Johor) June 10 > 13 2024 Day 3 & 4 (Final)

Day 3 Wednesday June 12 2024 (Johor Bahru, Johor) - focusing our group's visit to Laman Mahkota Istana, Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal, Bukit Layang Layang, Muzium Pasir Gudang Layang Layang (Kites Museum) & Country Garden Danga Bay. 

1) Laman Mahkota Istana & Istana Bukit Serene, Jalan Kolam Air - Bukit Serene is the royal palace & official residence of the Sultan of Johor, located in Johor Bahru, the palace faces the Straits of Johor & has a bird's eye view of Singapore, the palace was completed in 1933; a favourite tourist spot, beautiful sight especially viewed at night !

2) Breakfast in a local restaurant in Taman Perling, Johor Bahru - savoured a bowl of pork offal noodle Rm9 (US$2), KM & brother Weng's delight; mixed vegetable + porridge (Rm5) for my wife & sister Mei. 


3) Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal, Lot 21, Jalan Feri, Perlabuhan Johor Pasir Gudang, Johor - located in an industrial area, east of the Johor Bahru City Centre, the ferry is popular to locals & tourists interested in visiting Batam island of Indonesia; 3 daily ferry departures from Pasir Gudang > Batam Island (Harbour Bay) ie 09.00, 12.00 & 18.00 & the ferry schedule for return trip from Harbour Bay (Batam) > Pasir Gudang is 07.00, 11.30 & 15.30 (Indonesian time) ! A return ferry ticket is Rm165 (US$37). KIV for this ferry trip to Batam in my next visit to Johor !


4) Bukit Layang Layang Taman Bandar, Kawasan Perindustrian Pasir Gudang, Johor - known as Kite Park, a 31 acres suburban park & the official site of the annual Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival which attracts thousands of visitors & kite enthusiasts  from all over the world ! 


5) Muzium Layang Layang (Kite Museum) Pasir Gudang - first of its kind, the museum was established in Feb 2002 during the 7th Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, showcases various types of kites, posters & videos on Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, free admission for senior citizens (60+)



6) Lunch in Restoran Nam Fong, Taman Daya, Johor Bahru, savoured a plate of roasted pork rice Rm7 (US$1.60) + barley water (Rm2)

7) Country Garden Danga Bay, Johor Bahru - located at Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC), the Southernmost tip of Malaysia, 5 star living, a busy metropolitan area that serves as a key gateway to Singapore's Woodlands via the Causeway (First Link), blocks of high end condominiums, spectacular panoramic views of Johor Straits, at the Bay Point, there is a private beach & marina, in-house cinema, hypermarket & lifestyle mall !


8) Downtown Taman Pelangi Johor Bahru, Johor - our evening walkabout in this busy suburban township, many eatery stalls & a nearby Pelangi Food Court ! 


9) Dinner in Taman Pelangi Food Court - a popular place for casual, affordable dinners & supper, operating hours 17.00 > 23.00, savoured small eat claypot & tai chow dishes ie vinegar pork trotter, yellow wine chicken, mei chai stewed pork belly, stir fried vegetables, nasi lemak & ABC ice dessert - totalled Rm81 (US$18.20) for a group of 4 ! 


10) Food Glorious Food - our group's dinner in Pelangi Food Court, enjoyed the varieties of local food served here !

Day 4 Thursday June 13 2024 (Final Day) - our groups's final day in Johor Bahru prior to heading home; morning dim sum breakfast (Rm45) & wan tan noodle (Rm9) in Yoon Lai Restaurant, Taman Timur, Kulai, Johor.

(approx 350km) 

1) Dim Sum breakfast in Yoon Lai Restaurant, Kulai before heading home sweet home ! 


2) 2 Stopovers in Plus R & R (Rest & Recreation) Southbound Highway - toilet runs & light refreshments along the North-South Expressway, arrived Subang Jaya home at around 13.30. Another Cuti Cuti (Vacation) Malaysia free & easy trip accomplished (short & sweet but chalking up a mileage of 1,000km round trip) in this mid-year of 2024 !
