Day 4 (Oct 29 2023) Travel itinerary - focusing our group's visit to Elephant Hill, Fubo Hill, Xiaoyao Tower, Zhuangyuan Galley, East & West Lane, Guilin.  

Farmer's market - located next to our hotel in Guilin, my morning walkabout in the wet market prior to our tour bus departure to Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin; clean & pleasant environment, fresh produce & meat neatly display for sale ! 

1) Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin, Guangxi, China - a hot landmark & tourist attraction in Guilin, the shape of the hill is like an elephant drinking water from a river, Guilin is an international city & uses elephant trunk mountain & osmanthus flower as its city emblems ! In 2021, President Xi Jinping paid a visit to Elephant Trunk Hill, his second visit after a lapse of 54 years ! Passed by standing models (in local colorful costume) of ethnic minority group of China ie Yao, Miao, Zhuang, Hui, Dong & Han, the majority race in China.

2) Compulsory Tour No 4 - Fubo Hill, Guilin, Guangxi - a Karst hill in Guilin city, a huge rock standing besides Lijiang river, beautiful scenery & interesting legends ! 

3) Xiaoyao Tower, Guilin, Guangxi - located between Jiefang Bridge & Fubo Mountain in the northern section of Binjiang Raid in Guilin, built in the 4th year of Tang Wude (621) by Lijing Xiaoyao Tower, the governor of Guizhou. The stone inscription "Xiaoyao Tower" written by Yan Zhenqing is placed on it. Now a new landmark in downtown Guilin.

4) Zhuang Yuan Gallery, Guilin, Guangxi - a gallery of wall murals & statues of Guilin "Zhuanyuan" and shows the ancient imperial examination culture since 1300, Guilin had produced 8 "Zhuangyuan" or scholars since the Tang Dynasty ! 

5) East West Lane, Guilin, Guangxi - located in front of the Zhengyang Gate of the Jingjiang Princes City, is also known as Zhengyang East Lane & Zhengyang West Lane, it is the only historical street of the Ming & Qing dynasties left in Guilin.
