Day 4 (Final) Wednesday July 26 2023 - our group final day in Betong, it was absolute OK for my 4 days stay in this quaint little town near the Thai & Malaysia border - a lapse of 11 years since my last visit to Betong in 2012 !

Betong Central Market, Thailand - our group last day in Betong, woke up early (06.30) & enjoyed a cool morning walk towards the Betong Central Market to buy local Thai traditional rice pork dumplings @20bht (Rm2.70), petai or bitter beans @190bht =Rm25.65 per kilo, cashew nuts 500g =150bht (Rm20) & vegetarian bao buns @12bht (Rm1.60).

Exiting the Betong Thai & Malaysian Immigration Check Point - hotel check out, Vehicle Pass processing at the vehicle exit counter & passports stamping at the Thai Border Immigration Counter (Rm2 fee per passport processing) followed by passport processing & car boot inspection at the Malaysian Immigration & Exit counters.
Countryside scenery from Pengalen Hulu > Baling, Kedah - observed not many vehicles on the road for this stretch of main trunk road during the morning so it was a pleasant drive all the way towards the Baling town !
Baling Town, Kedah - stopover for breakfast, located about 110km from Alor Setar, it borders Perak & Betong, the southernmost town of Thailand, 13km from Pengkalan Hulu, the closest Malaysian border town to Betong, southern Thai border; in Dec 1955, Malayan Communist Party's leader Chin Peng met with Malayan officials in Baling, Kedah to negotiate for peace !

Our group breakfast in a local coffee ship in Uptown Baling (old Baling town), Kedah - savoured a plate of roasted pork rice (Rm6 = US$1.30), pork wan tan noodle soup (Rm6) & dried pork noodle (Rm6).
Exiting Baling town & a brief stopover in Gerik town & then to Sungei Siput & Ipoh before heading home via the North-South Expressway to Kuala Lumpur thus ending our group's 4 day free & easy visit to Betong, southern Thailand ! Home Sweet Home at last !
