Genting Highlands is a hill station & mountaintop city located on the peak of Mount Kali in the Titiwangsa Mountains, central Peninsular Malaysia, at 1,800m elevation. Located in the state of Pahang, the primary tourist attraction is Resort World Genting, a hill resort where casinos & theme parks are situated & gaming is allowed. Genting Highlands resort was developed & founded by the late Chinese businessman Lim Goh Tong in 1965.

My last visit to Genting Highlands was in July 2018 ! As for my wife, her last visit was probably 25 years ago ! So I suggested that both of us should do a re-visit (by bus & cable car) from Kuala Lumpur to the cool Genting Highlands Resort hence making this visit a reality - also to get a feel of various touristy places making 3 stopovers along the way focusing our visit on Genting Premium Outlets, Chin Swee Caves Temple, Genting Grand Complex, SkyAvenue Mall (a new outlook), SkyCasino (no gambling for me !), Skytropolis (a new indoor Theme Park) & a panorama view of SkyWorlds (a new outdoor Theme Park) from the High Line Roof Market & SkyWay cable car rides.

Indeed it was a very enjoyable staycation for two senior citizens doing this free & easy visit from Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands - very refreshing after the visit !

1) The start of my Rapid KL LRT train ride (Rm2 Senior) from SS15 Subang Jaya > KL Sentral (07.15 > 07.50)

SS15, Subang Jaya
LRT station, Selangor
KL Sentral Station, Kuala Lumpur

2) Boarding a Genting Resort bus (Rm7 one way for senior, normal adult is Rm10 = US$2.20) departing KL Sentral Station (08.45) > Awana (approx 50km, 1 hr 15 mins & a brief stop in Gombak LRT station to pick up passengers), first bus departure from KL Sentral to Awana Genting is 08.30 & the last bus is 19.00; from Awana Genting, the last bus departure to KL Sentral is 20.30, both Genting Resort & AEROBUS (less frequent) companies provide daily bus services to Genting Highlands, each following a timetable of fix schedules. During the peak hours ie early / mid morning & mid-day, Genting buses depart every 15 minutes from KL Sentral lower ground floor.

3) Arriving at the Awana Bus Terminal, Genting Permai Resort, Genting Highlands, Pahang

4) Stopover No 1 at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (10.30>11.00) - Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) in Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (1 minute walk from the Awana Bus Terminal); my wife first visit, quiet in the early morning, shoppers have yet to show up, good for window shopping at this moment cum a morning stroll, cool & pleasant weather, scenic view of Genting Highlands from the higher floor of the Premium Outlets ! KM, welcome back since your last visit here in July 2018 ! Both of us enjoy our leisure walk around the High Street, Middle Street & Low Street of this outdoor shopping center away from the hustle & bustle of city life in Kuala Lumpur !

5) Awana SkyCentral - Awana Transport Hub, Genting Highlands Resorts, Pahang - a number of F & B outlets in Awana SkyCentral have yet to open business (no thanks to Covid-19 pandemic) so a bit quiet at the food business front !

6) Awana SkyWay, Level 4, Awana Central, Genting Highlands, Pahang - a gondola lift system connecting Awana Transport Hub, Chin Swee Temple & SkyAvenue in Genting Highlands, Pahang, since Dec 2016, one way cable car ride to Chin Swee Temple & SkyAvenue Mall costs Rm5=US$1.10 (Senior)

9) Chin Swee Caves Temple - a grand religious site on a sharp, rocky slope near the peaks of Resorts World Genting, enjoy the magnificent mountainous landscape from the temple, open air Sky Terrace, iconic 9 storey temple pagoda, temple prayer hall, red pillars of the temple, hanging red & yellow lanterns, handcrafted doors etc

10) Goh Tong Hall - dedicated to the Founder of Resort Genting, Tan Sri  (Dr) Lim Goh Tong

11) Statute of the Founder of the Resort Worlds Genting, Tan Sri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong

14) A Panoramic view of Genting Highlands from Chin Swee Caves Temple

15) Cable ride from Chin Swee Station to Sky Avenue Station, just enjoy the ride & admire the uphill scenery of Genting Highlands, misty & foggy at the peak !
