Stopover No 1 - My Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) with my wife in Chinatown, Jalan Petaling, Jalan Sultan & Jalan Tun H S Lee, Kuala Lumpur
1) Kwai Chai Hong, Jalan Panggung, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - this heritage little back alley was rejuvenated so that visitors can re-live a part of Chinatown in the old glory days, rows of pre-war shophouses renovated / refurbished & turned into cafes, restaurants & bars etc, great ambience & artistic murals making this place the most Instagram-able spot in Kuala Lumpur ! Kwai Chai Hong was awarded Placemaker Asean Awards 2021 (NGO/Community).
2) Chinatown, Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur - bustling shopping district with haggling vendors offering a range of goods, from clothing to food, due to the long weekend holiday, this place was packed with people during the late morning bringing a new jest of life after more than two years of Movement Control Order due to the Covid-19 pandemic ! If you are a foodie, just show up in this place & take your time to savour the various local small eats, delicacies & drinks - a time well spent for your holiday weekend !
3) REXKL, Jalan Sultan, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - the original building was opened in 1947 but was shut down after a fire in 1972, housed the old Rex Cinema operated by Shaw Brothers but closed for business in 2002, converted into a backpacker hostel & shut down after another fire in 2007, now a community based cultural & creative hub in Downtown Kuala Lumpur giving a new life to this old, beloved building one more time !
4) Guan Di (Emperor Guan) Temple Chinatown, Jalan Tun H S Lee, Kuala Lumpur - a Malaysian based Taoist temple, founded in 1887, one of the oldest temples in Malaysia.
5) Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur - founded in 1873, the oldest Hindu temples in Kuala Lumpur, located at the edge of Chinatown in Jalan Bandar, a new structure was built in 1968 featuring the ornate "Raja Gopuram" tower in the style of South Indian temples.

7) Tropical Gardens Mall, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - a modern shopping mall with innovative F & B shops to create a chic & stylish alfresco ambience, overseeing a golf course, a great place for weekend shopping & eating with families !
8) Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - bright, bustling complex with retail shops, market stalls for food, housewares lifestyle shops, alfresco dining outlets etc
9) Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - direct link bridge to the Surian MRT station, opposite the Tropicana Gardens Mall, a mixed development building comprising of SOHO residences, business suites for offices & 3 floors of retail units, a brisk walk to get a feel of the market place !
10) Kota Damanasara Town, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - a brisk walk in this upscale township, sandwiched between Subang & Petaling Jaya, my wife's first time visit, a number of established eateries, noodle & dim sum restaurants have opened business here !
