" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) free & easy visit with my travel buddies, KF Wong & Thompson Tham to Royal Klang Town & a meet up with my Klang buddies over a reunion bak kut teh lunch in Taman Sentosa, Klang; travelling by my own vehicle from SS17 Subang Jaya (picked up KF Wong & Thompson Tham at the SS15 Subang Jaya LRT station) on Saturday Oct 23 2021; my 9th outdoor trip after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 6 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, a National Vaccination campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (Phase 1 started in Feb 2021); Selangor (my home state) is now under the National Recovery Phase 4 (NRP4) starting from Monday Oct 11 2021 & the Malaysian government has eased restrictions allowing individuals with vaccination certificate or card for inter state travel, dine-in restaurants, hotel accommodation & homestay, outdoor sport & activities etc.
My travel buddies, KF Wong & Thompson Tham joining me for this 6th outdoor group visit to Klang & also a meet up with 3 of my Klang travel buddies (Chim, Wong & Hui) over a lunch. On Sept 30 2021, KF Wong, Thompson Tham & myself visited a number of touristy places (Padang Chetty, Laman Seni - Street Art, Little India, Masjid India, Old Chartered Bank Building, Sultan Aziz Royal Gallery etc) in Royal Klang Town, Selangor
Klang Valley covering Kuala Lumpur & my home state of Selangor has now moved to National Recovery Phase 4 (NRP4, effective Monday Oct 18 2021) hence the Malaysian government has eased restrictions under NRP4 & people can now move / dine freely, travelling inter state etc
Friday Oct 22 2021 - a get-together bak kut teh (a pork rib dish cooked in broth infused with herbs) lunch with 5 of my travel buddies from Klang Valley in Taman Sentosa Utama, Klang & a visit to 4 touristy places in Royal Klang Town (Istana Alam Shah, Royal Klang Club, Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque & Kuan Yin Temple); the distance from Subang Jaya (my home place) > royal Klang town is approx 22km & from Klang > Taman Sentosa is approx 13km (one way)
Total cost incurred: Petrol (Rm20) + Food (bak kut teh & apple strudel Rm84 + Rm30) = Rm134 (US$31.80)
Travel Highlights
1) Istana Alam Shah (Palace) - the site of an older palace known as Istana Mahkota Puri which was built in 1903, the old palace was demolished in 1957 & replaced by the present palace which has become the official palace of the Sultan of Selangor, the palace has 15 rooms & was built using wood & marble.
2) Royal Klang Club (1901), Jalan Istana, Klang - the focal point for the sporting, social & cultural activities of the European community in Klang during the early 1900s; during the Japanese Occupation (1942>1945), the club was used as a recreational mess for Japanese army officers stationed in Klang & Port Swettenham (now Port Klang); unfortunately being a non-member, we were unable to visit the interiors of this historic & elite club in Klang !
3) Masjid Diraja Sultan Suleiman (Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque) - a royal mosque in Klang, Selangor, constructed by the British in the early 1932 !
4) Kuan Yin Temple, Jalan Barat, Klang, Selangor - built in 1892, Kuan Yin Temple is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Selangor, now a state heritage building; closed at the time of our visit !
5) Lunch with my travel buddies (Chim, Wong & Hui from Klang; the three were my travel buddies to Thailand, Cambodia & Laos in 2014>2019) & KF Wong (Kota Damansara) & Thompson Tham (Ampang) in Restaurant Yap Eng Bak Kut Teh, Jalan Bendahara, Taman Sentosa Utama, Klang, Selangor - bak kut teh + rice for 6 pax (BYO Chinese tea) = RM84 (a treat from KM Cheng)

6) After the bak kut teh lunch, our group made a brief visit to Chim's bird nest house & experimental breeding of lobsters & soon hock (marble gory) fish in small tanks (Hui's part time hobby) in Taman Sentosa, Klang, ... an interesting visit !
7) Fruity Cake & Bakery, Lebuh Turi, off Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Taman Chi Liung, Klang, Selangor - on our way home our group bought apple strudels (pre-ordered Rm30.30=US$7.10 per piece) from Fruity Cake & Bakery, this large piece of apple strudel with custard & apple filling (about 1 foot) is one of the best sellers in Klang Valley !

Tuesday Oct 19 2021 - a small life pleasure as today is a public holiday in conjunction with the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday - a meet up for breakfast with two of my Qigong members & accompanying my wife to PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor to buy groceries & Chinese herbs, tao bao (takeaways) for today's lunch & a down the memory lane visit to my wife's old house where she was born & lived in Jalan 2/29, PJ Oldtown during the early 1950s to mid 1970s (the house had been sold & now owned / managed by a homecare center), the distance from SS17, Subang Jaya (my home place) to PJ Oldtown is approx 12km
1) Breakfast (08.00>09.30) with two of my Qigong group members ie Mr Choy & Lim in Stadium Curry House, USJ16, Subang Jaya, Selangor; Choy was my travel buddy to China (Sept 2012 & Sept 2013) & Cambodia / Vietnam (Jan 2014), I ordered a tosai or dosa (my favourite Indian food) which is a thin pancake or crepe origination from South India made from a fermented batter predominantly consisting of lentils / rice & eat together with curry gravies plus my favourite hot drink, a glass of hot coffee mixed with tea called "Cham" ! Whereas my two buddies preferred roti canai or roti Chenai, also known as roti cane & roti prata (a popular Indian flatbread dish in Southeast Asia) & teh tarik (a hot milk tea beverage, its name is derived from the pouring process of pulling the drink during preparation); total Rm14, a treat from Choy

2) Morning visit (10.00>11.30) with my wife to PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor shopping for groceries, Chinese herbs & sundry household wares etc
3) Pasar Besar PJ Oldtown Wet Market, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - one of the oldest wet market in Petaling Jaya !
4) Groceries (buying of mushrooms, dried anchovies, dried bean curd tofu skin, canned food, dried red dates, black fungus, black beans etc) & Chinese herbs shopping in PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor
5) Down the memory lane (12.15) - a visit to my wife's old house (where she was born in the early 1950s) in Jalan 2/29, PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, this single storey bungalow house facing a garden is now owned & managed by GT Heritage Homecare Center
6) Taman Selera (Food Court), Jalan Othman, PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - one of the oldest food court in Petaling Jaya !
7) My takeaway (tao bao) roasted chicken & roasted pork rice as lunch from Kie Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Stall, PJ Oldtown Food Court, Petaling Jaya, Selangor
