" My Staycation & Jalan Jalan (Walkabout) free & easy visit with my travel buddies, KF Wong & Thompson Tham to the Royal Klang Town, Selangor on Thursday Sept 30 2021 (09.00> 14.00) travelling by KTM train from Subang Jaya KTM train station > Klang; my 5th outdoor trip after a National Lockdown (Movement Control Order / Emergency) imposed by the Malaysian Government on May 6 2021 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, a National Vaccination campaign is currently being implemented by the Malaysian Government (1st phase started in Feb 2021), Selangor (my home state) is now placed under the National Recovery Phase 2 (NRP2) starting Sept 10 2021 which permits individuals with vaccination certificate or card for cross districts travels, dine-in restaurants, hotel accommodation & homestay, outdoor sport & activities within the same state "
Total expenses incurred: Rm3.20 (2 KTM train rides, senior 50% discount) + Rm14 (bak kut teh) = Rm17.20 (US$4.05) - distance from Subang Jaya > Klang, Selangor is approx 23km
My travel buddies - KF Wong & Thompson Tham, our group's "sing my own song" visit to the Royal Klang Town in our home state of Selangor amid a Covid-19 pandemic during the 3rd week of the National Recovery Phase 2 (NRP2) - weather forecast today will be a gloomy & cloudy day expecting rain during the mid afternoon so I brought along a small umbrella in case rain drops keep falling on my head !
The start of our KTM train ride (Rm1.60 one way, senior 50% discount) from Subang Jaya station (our meet up point) > Klang, Selangor (total distance is approx 23km, traveling time is approx 30 minutes)
1) Klang KTM Station, Jalan Besar, Klang, Selangor - built in 1890, western colonial architecture, close to the central part of Klang town
2) The Royal Klang Town, Selangor - a royal town & former capital of the state of Selangor, it was the civil capital of Selangor in an earlier era to the emergence of Kuala Lumpur & the current capital, Shah Alam, my last visits to Royal Klang Town were in June 2020 & Nov 2017 hence I can consider myself as a "loyal" visitor of this historic Royal Klang Town !
3) Pre war shop houses in Royal Klang Town - most of these shop houses were constructed between 1930 & 1940, Klang town is one of the oldest towns in Malaysia, rich in history, customs & tradition, following the Klang Heritage trail, you can find many historical colonial buildings built in the 1800s & 1900s
4) Little India, Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang - whole range of shops selling products used in particular by the Indian community, this town has a sizeable number of Indian community !
5) Chinese Clan (Eng Choon & Hainan) Association, Klang
6) Masjid India, Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang - built in 1910 for religious & community activities by the India-Muslim community living in Klang, the original building of the mosque had been demolished & replaced with a new mosque in 1973
7) Klang Fire Station, Jalan Gedung Raja Abdullah, Klang - this red & white striped fire station is a Victorian-style building which was built in the 1890s !
8) Former Chartered Bank Building, corner of Jalan Istana & Jalan Dato Hamzah, Klang - this Dutch style building built in late 1800s housed the Chartered Bank branch in Klang, now home to an Indian boutique shop owned by Chennai Silk Company
9) Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, Klang - built in 1909, the gallery (a memorial museum) is about the former Selangor Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, closed at the time of our visit
10) Sri Nagara Thandayuthapani Temple, Jalan Bukit Jawa, Klang - over 150 years old !
11) Padang Chetty, Klang - used to be the centre of activities for the town's youngsters who played hockey, football & cricket, the name Padang Chetty came about from the huge population of Chetties (mainly South India migrants) who stayed not far from the area, the Padang is now converted (work in progress) into a Dataran (Square) with a maze garden, fountains, a grand stand etc
12) St Barnabas Church, Jalan Dato Hamzah, Klang - over 100 years old !
13) Laman Seni Safari Jejak Warisan (Klang Mural Art Street), Klang, Jalan Tunku Diaudin, Klang - lively 3D murals in a back alley of this Royal Klang Town, ideal for Instagram !
Our group's early lunch (11.30) in Restoran Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh (Under the Bridge), Jalan Besar, Klang - an old established restaurant serving the authentic & original bak kut teh (herbal pork rib soup) since 1979, the morning session food was sold out by 13.00, so early bird catches the worm if you do not want to miss savouring this sumptuous meal in Royal Klang Town, strict SOP for walk in customers ie only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to dine-in !

Sunday Sept 26 2021 - The Gasket Alley, Lot 15, 13, Jalan 13/6, Section 13, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - founded in 2016, this lifestyle hub in the heart of Petaling Jaya houses several retail & eatery outlets, the space & activities here are ideal in creating one of the best communal lifestyle experiences for urbanites, my 1st time visit to this place, a side visit after paying a visit to my sister Peng who is currently hospitalised in Universiti of Malaya Medical Center.
Sunday Sept 26 2021 - Taman Selera, Jalan Othman, PJ Oldtown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor - an old food court built in 1960s, PJ Oldtown is my wife's birth place ! Bought 3 packets of roasted pork rice (Rm7) / roasted chicken rice (Rm6) as takeaway lunch for home ! PJ Oldtown is approx 12km from Subang Jaya, my home place; for old time sake, my wife likes to visit her birth place once or twice a year for food, grocery, medicinal herbs & household wares shopping etc !

Sunday Sept 26 2021 - Universiti of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC), Jalan Professor Diraja Ungku Aziz, Kuala Lumpur both my wife & myself paid a visit to sister Peng who is hospitalised in UMMC
Interstate travel may be allowed by mid-October 2021 when 90% of the adult population had been immunised (as at Sept 25 2021, more than 19 million adults in Malaysia had been fully vaccinated representing 83.1% of the adult population) ! Lifting border control under study ! Finally some good news for wanderlusts & travellers but stay safe & take simple precautions such as wearing a mask, physical distancing whenever you embark on a "New Normal" travelling in your home country or overseas !
