ASEAN Map |
The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) which was officially formed in 1967, currently has 11 members (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam & Timor Leste). The current total population of Asean is around 626 million.
Malaysia low cost air carrier, Air Asia currently has regular flights from Kuala Lumpur to all Asean countries so every one can fly to all the Asean capitals with minimal costs.
Over the years, I had visited all the Asean capitals except Jakarta. In 1996, I visited Manila on a short working trip but did not have the opportunities to visit their tourist places, the same applied to Brunei. But at the time of writing, I will be visiting Brunei from 1-5 August 2016 and will be visiting the major tourist places in and around Brunei.
After the Brunei visit, I will include Jakarta (visited in July 2017) of Indonesia & Manila of Philippines (visited in June 2017) in my travel plans for future visits.
Having by now (as at July 2017) visited all the 10 Asean capitals, my dreams of seeing all the Asean capitals have been fulfilled - I should say the outcome is a wholesome one ! Not to forget 2017 is an Asean's 50th Year Anniversary ! Well done, Asean !
